Justicia brandegeeana is the Mexican shrimp plant, the shrimp plant or false hop, is an evergreen shrub in the genus Justicia of the acanthus family of Acanthaceae, which is native to Mexico & also naturalized in Florida including other countries around the globe.
Golden shrimp plant is usually grown as a landscape perennial plant in the tropics, which can be used seasonally as outdoors in the Midwest. While in tropical & subtropical areas, it’s used as a hedge for most foundation planting, adding to borders & used in mass plantings respectively.
