Leaving a little wriggle room is the only way. My mother used to say us girls, there were 5 of us to go outside to settle our disagreements. I never remember any fights outside in the backyard but it took the stress away from her.
Even though my kids are adults, they are still very much in my life, get togethers and phone calls & texts, life is busy. Of course I must stop what I am doing to give them my attention. Being a mum never ends, which is lovely.
