I consider myself a very lucky daughter, I have my beautiful mother alive, healthy and eager to continue among us to brighten our days. My mother is 85 years old, she is a loving, energetic, very cheerful woman, I think that is her main characteristic added to a huge heart to always help those who need it.

Me considero una hija con mucha suerte, tengo a mi hermosa madre con vida, con salud y con muchas ganas de seguir entre nosotros para iluminar nuestros días. Mi madre tiene 85 años, es una mujer cariñosa, enérgica, muy alegre, creo que es su principal característica sumada a un corazón enorme para ayudar siempre al que lo necesite.

I feel blessed to have been born in this humble home which she formed with my father who went to heaven 20 years ago. I also feel proud to be the youngest sister of 12 who were born from this beautiful union.

Me siento bendecida de haber nacido en este humilde hogar el cual formó junto a mi padre quien hace 20 años se fue al cielo. También me siento orgullosa de ser la hermana menor de 12 que nacieron de esa hermosa unión.

My mother is everything to me, she and my children are what I love and care for most in this world; she deserves that all her children give her back day after day a little or a lot of what she gave us.

I would like to tell you a little about my mother, who she was and how she met my father.

Mi madre lo es todo para mí, ella junto a mis hijos es lo que más amo y cuido en este mundo; ella se merece que todos sus hijos le devolvamos día tras día un poquito o mucho de lo que ella nos dio.
Me gustaría contarles un poco sobre mi madre, quien fue y como conoció a mi padre.

My mother was the older sister of a humble home that lived on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, very young she had to work and went to work as a cook in the command of the National Guard in Rubio, Tachira State, there she worked with her godmother who took care of her because she was a minor. As time went by, a handsome man, tall, dark, with strong features, very manly, arrived at that command, who would later become her husband and therefore my father.

Mi madre era la hermana mayor de un hogar humilde que Vivian en la frontera Colombo-venezolana, muy joven tuvo que trabajar y se fue de cocinera en el comando de la guardia nacional en Rubio Estado Táchira, allí trabajaba junto a su madrina quien la cuidaba por ser menor de edad. Al pasar el tiempo llego aquel comando un hombre guapo, de alta estatura, moreno, con rasgos fuertes, muy varonil, el cual un tiempo después se convertiría en su esposo y por ende mi padre.

The family grew quickly, my first siblings were born in that town in Táchira where my father was assigned, but after a while he realized that with one of those salaries he would not be able to provide for his family. I like it when my mother tells me this story, it seems to me a very beautiful story, full of pure love.

La familia creció rápidamente, mis primeros hermanos nacieron en esa población del Táchira donde mi padre estaba asignado, pero luego de un tiempo él se percató que con un sueldo de esos no iba a sacar adelante a su familia. Me gusta cuando mi madre me cuenta esta historia, me parece una historia muy bonita, llena de puro amor.

My father went one day to talk to my grandfather who lent him the money to buy a farm where sugar cane was grown, they had a mill, but also had land to grow other crops. That is where our home was formed, there they arrived with 5 children, until there were a dozen, thanks to God we are all alive and in good health.

Mi padre se fue un día hablar con mi abuelo quien le prestó el dinero para comprar una finca donde se cultivaba caña de azúcar, tenían un trapiche para moler, pero también tenía terreno para sembrar otros rubros. Allí se formó nuestro hogar, allí llegaron con 5 hijos, hasta completar la docena, gracias a Dios todos estamos vivos y gozamos de buena salud.

My mother was always a hard worker, it was not easy but she had to take care of the house, the workers and she also had to take care of the younger children. I don't know how she did it, but at home there was never any shouting or arguments. There was a lot of discipline but there was also a lot of collaboration; deep down I think we all knew what to do and of course we didn't let mom or dad repeat things to us. When they told us to do something, it was done immediately.

Mi madre siempre fue muy trabajadora, no era fácil pero tenía que atender la casa, los obreros y además tenía que atender los niños más pequeños. NO sé cómo hacia pero en casa nunca se escuchaban gritos, ni discusiones. Había mucha disciplina pero también había mucha colaboración; en el fondo creo que todos sabíamos que hacer y por supuesto no permitíamos que papá ni mamá nos repitieran las cosas. Cuando ellos mandaban algo enseguida se hacía.

I am convinced that in order to achieve this, she had to have a lot of help from God and his angels, since none of us ever got sick or suffered an accident. My mother is a great believer in God and the Virgin Mary and is always praying and asking God for all of us and now she is adding her prayers for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Estoy convencida que para poder lograr esto tuvo que tener una ayuda muy grande de Dios y sus ángeles, ya que nunca ninguno de nosotros se enfermó o sufrió un accidente. Mi madre es muy creyente de Dios y de la virgen y siempre está orando y pidiendo a Dios por todos nosotros y ahora se suman las oraciones que hace por sus nietos y bisnietos.

She recently became a great-great-grandmother to a precious little boy and all this makes her immensely happy.
I owe everything I am to my mother, if it had not been for her I would not have studied, she always insisted that I should study and get ahead. My mother is my example to follow, from her I learned a lot, especially to be a human person, charitable, honest.

Recientemente se convirtió en Tatarabuela de un niño precioso y todo eso la hace inmensamente feliz.

A mi madre le debo todo lo que soy, sino hubiese sido por ella no hubiese estudiado, ella siempre me insistía que debía estudiar y salir adelante. MI madre es mi ejemplo a seguir, de ella aprendí mucho, sobre todo a ser una persona humana, caritativa, honesta.

My mother does not have the same speed as before, her years are taking their toll on her. I remember that before I could not keep up with her when we went out shopping, she was a light, energetic, very strong person, but now she has become slow, clumsy and forgetful.

Ya mi madre no tiene la misma velocidad de antes, sus años le están pasando factura. Recuerdo que antes no le podía llevar el paso cuando salíamos a realizar las compras, ella era una persona ligera, enérgica, muy fuerte, pero ahora se volvió lenta, torpe y olvidadiza.

But what she does not lose is that joy, that laughter, her words full of love. Mom makes us feel that we are not alone, that we have someone to talk to, that someone who gives us the only true love, who has no envy or selfishness because all she wants is to see her children well.

All mothers in the world are like that, they protect, care, love, feel and suffer for their children.

Pero lo que si no pierde es esa alegría, esa risa, sus palabras llenas de amor. Mamá nos hace sentir que no estamos solos, que tenemos a alguien con quien hablar, ese alguien que nos da el único y verdadero amor, que no tiene envidia ni egoísmo porque lo único que quiere es ver a sus hijos bien.
Todas las madres del mundo son así, protegen, cuidan, aman, sienten y padecen por sus hijos.

And as her name indicates, she is pure life; I pray to God for her, so that she will always be with us. I pray to God that her pains will go away and allow her to enjoy her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren more. Now it is up to us to take good care of her, love her and watch over her happiness as she watched over us.

Y como su nombre lo indica es pura vida; pido a Dios por ella, para que siempre esté junto a nosotros. Pido a Dios que sus dolores se alejen y le permita disfrutar más de sus nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos. Ahora nos toca cuidarla mucho, quererla y velar por su felicidad así como ella veló por nosotros.

To all of you who read me, if you still have your mothers alive, take care of them, they deserve to be loved because they gave their life, their body to give life to us. If you are upset with her for any reason, forgive them, because they are also human beings and they make mistakes. Their intention is that we always do things right and have the best.

A todo ustedes que me leen, si aún tienen a sus madres vivas cuídenlas, ellas se merecen que las quieran porque dieron su vida, su cuerpo para darnos vida a nosotros. Si están molestos con ella por alguna razón perdónenlas, porque ellas también son seres humanos y se equivocan. Su intención es que siempre hagamos las cosas bien y tengamos lo mejor.
