A few hectic days

in Silver Bloggers3 months ago

The last few days have been hectic, eventful and exhausting, and I've barely had time to be in Hive.

But today things seem to be settling down, and life goes on.

This week my sister had to undergo surgery. Fortunately, everything went well and yesterday afternoon, she was released from the hospital. She has to be on rest to finish her recovery, but everything is going fine and in a few weeks, she will be back into her routine.

Despite the hectic pace of life, we need to take some time to take a breath
and admire the perks that nature puts in our way.

Also these days, my uncle passed away, one of my dad's brother. He was quite old and had been physically deteriorating a little more each day. And although his departure was not unexpected, we are never fully prepared to let go of our loved ones.

My uncle was a very special person who left his mark on all who knew him. He was so funny and nice. He had a good life with its ups and downs and a lot of curve balls to deal with along the way. But he was always an example of honesty, of how to see the beautiful side of life and how with love and family support you can face the hardest moments of life.

Yesterday, I went with my aunt, his sister and the only one of my dad's siblings who is alive, who paradoxically is the oldest of the four siblings, and one of my cousins to Maracay, the city where my uncle lived to give him the last goodbye.

My uncle lived as he wanted and also died as he wanted. He always said that on the day of his funeral, there was no need to be sad and that he wanted his goodbye with Mariachis. One of his nieces, who was like a daughter to him, obeyed him and brought some Mariachis to sing El Rey at the funeral.

I am fortunate for the family I have. I grew up surrounded by love and I have a trunk full of beautiful memories and that is a great treasure.

My uncle Pata as he was affectionately known will always be remembered by those of us who were lucky enough to know him. There is a quote by the Latin American writer Isabel Allende that comes to my mind.

There is no death. People die only when we forget them, If you can remember me, I will be with you always.

“La muerte no existe, la gente sólo muere cuando la olvidan; si puedes recordarme, siempre estaré contigo.”
― Isabel Allende - Cuentos de Eva Luna

And that quote encloses a big truth. Those we remember, always live in our hearts.

Wishing your sister to have a fast recovery. 😊

There is no death. People die only when we forget them, If you can remember me, I will be with you always.

I agree with this.😊 Thank you for sharing your life today. Yeah, your uncle may be in paradise but his legacy remains.😊

Thank you for your good wishes 🥰

You're welcome. 😊 I'm thankful also for the quote you shared.😊 Have a nice day.😊

Glad that it's a successful surgery for your sister. Hope she recover fast ✨. And I'm sorry for your uncle. I'm sure he is resting and having his peace now, it's really sad when we lose someone. And it is also like a sign that time is really running too fast that some of our love ones are leaving us one by one😟. I'm so afraid now because of how time runs too fast 😫😟

That's true. Time is running so fast. My dad's siblings are all gone except for my aunt, she is 86 but time seems to stand a bit for her, she is so well. I hope she stays that way for a long time.

It's good to know that your sister's surgery went well and she will soon be leading a normal life.

What you say is very true, we are never prepared for the departure of a loved one.

How beautiful is what you say about your uncle, it would have been beautiful to share beautiful moments with him.

That is undoubtedly a very realistic quote: “There is no such thing as death. People die only when we forget them. If you can remember me, I will be with you always.

I am very sorry for your loss dear friend @coquicoin

Thank you very much, amigo @jlufer
Have a great day

I’m glad your sister surgery went well and hope the recovery is completed soon.

And although his departure was not unexpected, we are never fully prepared to let go of our loved ones.

I agree with this. But your last quote is beautiful and comforting, we keep alive our loved ones in our memories. A big hug, dear. ❤️

Thank you, querida Paloma 💕😘

My friend, I am so sorry to hear about your uncle's death. No one is ever prepared for the death of a loved one, even if it is sadly known that it is near due to serious health problems. ¡Fuerza!
In all the time you have spent with sadness and worries, it is good to know that your sister has been released from hospital.
A hug.

Gracias, amiga 🤗😘
Have a lovely weekend

Hello lady @coquicoin
I am very sorry for this whole situation you are going through, what an emotional farewell.
I hope that after reading this comment your sister is much better.

Sorry to hear about your Uncle Super Eli, but glad to hear your sister's surgery went well 💙

Gracias, Super Ed 🌀💙 Have a great weekend 😘

Thank you Super Eli and you too 💙

Always sad when we say goodbye to loved ones, your Uncle Peta sounds a wonderful person who enjoyed life. Quote really expresses the need to pass onto the children to hold family memories close to ones heart.

Good to hear your sister recovered and will soon be back to full health. Not being present online for a day or two is necessary also does us good to be with family as often as possible.

Family memories are a treasure and you are so right, we have to teach the children how valuable they are.

And it is true that sometimes it is necessary to disconnect from the online world, and is good for us.

A hug!

Always enjoy sitting with a photo album going through early photography with friends and family over the years before digital.

No computers or distractions after evening meals, never take a phone into my bedroom either, still cling to some time when not having ones life controlled by technology.

That is a beautiful way to look at death, your uncle sounds like a very special man Eli!
Life is full of ups and downs, and you are so right, we need to remember to take a breather from life and enjoy the beauty of nature around us.
I am glad to hear that your sister's surgery went well.
Have a great weekend <3

My uncle was a special man, as was my dad, although both had a very different character.
Facing the death of those we love is very hard and what can I say to you about it. But they somehow remain alive in our memories as the quote says and that's what we have to hold on to, right?
Hugs, Lizzie 😘

Sad news for your uncle but as you say in your post, as long as we have a thought for them, they're still with us.
Have a great weekend and get some rest after these long days
