There certainly is that comfort in "sameness". My hubby recently shocked me saying that I like routine and "sameness". I don't at all perceive myself that way. I think outside the box and love new and unique. But now I wonder; have I settled into sameness? Or ultimately is it just that as much as some of us love adventure and spontaneous.....ultimately....ah....well ultimately we like that comfort of sameness
I think that we have moments where we like to think outside the box, and I believe you do, especially in your innovative way to simplify your life, and figuring out new ways to use your assets... making a recipe work harder for its money.
Teaching children is all about sameness and routine. It is in our best interests to keep it that way for continuity. I think children find comfort in routine, knowing what to expect. As you are part of that package, you are probably leaning into the sameness for the sake of peace, not because you are ummmm... boring. LOL
So many people/animals depend on you and if your animals didn't know when or if they were getting fed/let out they would not be calm. Ditto with the kids/hubby etc.
Routine is okay, sameness too. It makes others comfortable with you to know it also. (I think) That doesn't mean you can run off with a wild hair now and then!
Yes, those little habits are powerful… they bring peace and calmness… reassuring.
Little rituals so to say. Everybody has them in their lives. It’s wonderful.

Yes. Exactly. The calm of knowing what is coming up next. While not vital, there is a certain feeling in the sameness. I can do without it and jump off with another, but, it brings stability and peace overall.
Little rituals can be anything, but, it makes us who we are.

Exactly so many things are little rituals and sometimes people don’t even realise it/ them.
I do pick up on them hahaha at others. But I know my own too. It’s what makes us “US”. Like you say.
Even a certain way of just folding clothes… to just throw one out.

It’s a Dutch dish, one of the classics… slightly done differently, but it’s only specific for one region in the Netherlands. Limburg. The little dangly bit that hangs on the bottom in the south, between Germany and Belgium.

You know, I like to change things up often, too, but not the morning. No, the morning must be as simple and as straightforward as possible. Any deviation causes confusion, which leads to more confusion, which leads to looking for squirrels and wondering why it's suddenly noon.
Morning routines are almost sacred.

I happen to have a spare keyboard. I wonder if I put it on the side of the desk if it'll attract the cat like a black hole.

It really does have a beauty, all of its own, doesn't it? It has taken me a long time to truly appreciate the black and white for its difference in the world of photography.
But, the lack of color is what makes it so exceptionally, blocking out all the noise.

I take vitamins every morning. As I get older my memory isn't as good. I've had to buy one of those Mon - Sun pill boxes because I don’t always remember if I've taken my vitamins or not. One of them is for memory .... 🙂
I think it is probably the fact that as we get older, it seems we have more responsibilities than when we were younger. More to keep track of and more things to divide into our day.
I know I do. Keeping up with it all becomes a little hectic.
You are sharp as a tack, woman. You cannot fool me. I remember smiling when my parents got those little pill boxes to keep track of, and now I have one! Since the invention of COVID, taking more vitamines with C, D, and multi ... I am not getting them out every day, so I put them in a box, and voila! It makes life easier. Plus, the obvious. It does let you know if you took it.
It is one of the things I can live with. :) Or else, get them out every day!
