They send a monthly payment for the expenses of those people, but in reality I ask you: Is that salary enough? I don't know about you, but it's not enough for me. And I am not an elderly person who takes medication, I have seen many who have a pharmacy next to their bed. Thank God I do not take a single medication and even so it is not enough because what I should have is a little diet, and food has changed and it was since I had surgery on my gallbladder. Quite contrary to what I had heard, you should follow a diet and eat little, even though you already did.
The truth ... how did I imagine reaching the silver age?
I think there is no age to think about that, that is, I thought about it since I was young. I discussed it with some friends I got from jobs. We all want the same thing, to travel, money in our pockets, love, friendships, share with others. What you never think about is illness, since no one wants to grow up to be sick.
When you start having grandchildren you want to fill yourself with them and pamper them, it is a very beautiful stage, at least for me, being called grandmother is the most beautiful thing I have heard after ¨Mom¨.
The truth ... how am I carrying out my plans?
I have always told my 3 children that I want to reach 80 years only if I can fend for myself, if I can do my things without anyone helping me. I think of those beings who reach the third age and the children fight, but because nobody wants to take care of them.
In my case, I only fear spending my old years here in my country. Why ? You may wonder. Well, with the situation that my country currently has, we have wanted to send my mother out of it since for people of those ages there is not much to offer them.
The living example I see in my mother who is 82 years old, receives two pensions, but each pension is 1 dollar, that is, she receives 2 dollars a month and here in Venezuela a single medicine can cost more than that, like the medicine of tension that she uses. And when you get sick with the flu, you have to resort to shipments from those who are outside the country to complete the expenses.
She rips up her dresses to make washcloths to contain her urine since she suffers from incontinence, there are not enough towels here thick for that, and there is not so much money to buy her so many sanitary napkins for her to use, so it is easier to make some fabrics that can be washed and used again. But that is not quality of life for a senior citizen. His age is Golden, but his days are Paper, there is no quality of life for adults.
Even so, I must get used to thinking that I am going to spend my retirement days here, in my country.
My greatest wish ... not to retire.
I feel that I have all the time that I did not have before because I was taking care of my children, I want to do something since being without doing anything destroys one more, it numbs one. Instead, now that we have time and a little energy and desire, we must work.
I think that companies should have a plan for the person to continue working if they want to and can. Ideally, the government could lend money to create small businesses with low interest rates, many people know how to do another job apart from the one they did in a company and this is the time to empower themselves and be able to employ other people in the community.
That they are taken into account for the country's economy since we are a large population and we do not want to feel sorry or be given alms, put us to work, we are stronger than you think. My ideal retirement plan would be to have money to buy what I want and share with my family and with everyone who needs it.

La verdad...cómo imaginaba yo llegar a la edad plateada ?
Creo que no hay una edad para pensar en eso, es decir, yo lo pensaba desde joven. Lo discutí con algunas personas amigas que conseguí en los trabajos. Todos queremos lo mismo, viajar, dinero en el bolsillo, amor, amistades, compartir con otros. En lo que nunca se piensa es en la enfermedad ya que nadie quiere llegar a viejo enfermo.
Cuando comienzas a tener nietos quieres llenarte de ellos y consentirlos, es una etapa muy hermosa, al menos para mi, que me llamen abuelita es lo más hermoso que he escuchado después de ¨Mamá¨.
La verdad... cómo estoy llevando mis planes ?
Siempre les he dicho a mis 3 hijos que quiero llegar a los 80 años solo si me puedo valer por mi misma, si puedo hacer mis cosas sin que nadie me ayude. Pienso en esos seres que llegan a la tercera edad y los hijos se pelean, pero porque nadie quiere atenderle.
En mi caso yo solo temo pasar mis años de vejes aquí en mi país. Por qué ? Se preguntarán ustedes. Bueno, con la situación que tiene mi país actualmente hemos querido enviar a mi mamá fuera de él ya que para las personas de esas edades no hay mucho que ofrecerles.
El vivo ejemplo lo veo en mi mamá que tiene 82 años, recibe dos pensiones, pero cada pensión es de 1 dólar, o sea que recibe 2 dólares mensuales y aquí en Venezuela una sola medicina puede costar más que eso, como la medicina de la tensión que ella usa. Y cuando se enferma de gripe hay que recurrir a los envíos de los que están afuera del país para completar los gastos.
Ella rompe sus vestidos para hacer trapitos que le sirvan para contener su orine ya que sufre de incontinencia, aquí no hay toallas suficientemente gruesas para eso, y no hay tanto dinero para comprarle tantas toallas sanitarias para que use, así que es más fácil hacer unas telas que se puedan lavar y usar de nuevo. Pero eso no es calidad de vida para una persona de la tercera edad. Su edad es Dorada, pero sus días son de Papel, no hay calidad de vida para los adultos.
Aún así, debo acostumbrarme a pensar que aquí voy a pasar mis días de retiro, en mi país.
Mi mayor deseo...no retirarme.
Siento que tengo todo el tiempo que antes no lo tuve por estar cuidando de mis hijos, quiero hacer algo ya que el estar sin hacer nada lo destruye más a uno, lo entumece. En cambio, ahora que tenemos tiempo y un poco de energía y ganas debemos trabajar.
Pienso que las empresas deberían tener un plan para que la persona continúe trabajando si quiere y puede. Sería lo ideal, que el gobierno pueda prestar dinero para crear pequeñas empresas con intereses bajos, muchas personas saben hacer otro oficio aparte al que hacían en una empresa y este es el tiempo de empoderarse y poder dar empleo a otras personas de la comunidad.
Que sean tomados en cuenta para la economía del país ya que somos una población grande y no queremos dar lástima ni que nos den las limosnas, pongannos a trabajar, somos más fuertes de lo que ustedes creen. Mi plan de retiro ideal sería tener dinero para comprarme lo que yo quiera y compartir con los míos y con todo el que necesite.

Dear @isabelpena, my heart really goes out to the people of your country and I pray that you are able to take care of yourself for a long time still. Perhaps think of some small online business, like teaching English speaking people who want to learn to speak Spanish. My one son has been teaching Russian children to improve their English, all just speech practice. Their are many online publications you could use for lessons I'm sure as there are many for practicing English speech. I feel for you @isabelpena, when your pension is inefficient, it makes life all that bit harder. Keep on blogging and build your Hive up and use that for little extras. Teaching is a honorable job, and is done by special people like you. Yes there shouldn't be an age restriction, especially when you are healthy and fit. Retirement is not for the faint at heart.
