RE: Bridging Generations

Sounds very very wholesome to me! I mean, who on earth does a party at one of their family member's home, while they're still there! That's a demonstration of love and respect if nothing else.

The 'God Help Me' shows she already has suitable limits and set boundaries. Having 20-30 people shows a pretty healthy number of friends + their friends, good social circles.

And the fact they were down to 10 in time, and only 30 minutes or so over? Very nice! I never had such luxuries as this; never had the friends, the family bond, the money, or the will. In fact come to think of it, I've never hosted a party before!

Lossserrrr (to myself).

But yeah, from this little context sounds like this granddaughter is turning out to be a fine & respectable woman (although the posters do have me raising my eyebrows (To be fair, I was hooked on eminem when I was like 10, which if you've read the lyrics would be quite scary in hindsight!)

Hardly! If that's how we're judged, you and I are in trouble😄 I didn't even have a wedding party (reception). After my wedding my new husband and I returned to our hotel with our 'witnesses'--two mothers and my sister--and played slot machines. Different strokes for different folks. Live life in a way that makes you/me comfortable. It's called freedom. At my age, I claim it without reservation.

As for my granddaughter, yes, she is lucky and so far turning out fine. Her mother was single for most of the time. The father moved a thousand miles away when the child was very young. So, my daughter did it alone, with our cooperation. Yes, we were closely connected, did everything we could to help the two of them. It seems she (my daughter) did a good job--so far!!!

As for the money... I grew up in circumstances that seem similar to those you have described in the past about your youth. No one ever came to the house because it was so shabby.

It is a joy to help my granddaughter (and daughter). After a certain point in life, the future is family.

I really appreciate your visit and your comment. I hope you are peaceful and looking forward to a fulfilling New Year 😇
