I was never really into the Beatles or Rolling Stones. Sure they were both good and I liked lots of there different songs from time to time but I never even owned any of there albums. Maybe I was a bit young and missed them in there prime.
I was more into Bruce Springsteen. The first I heard of him was his Born in the USA Album playing on the radio back in the 80s. I used to have a cassette player and recorder. I would listen intently for my favorite songs trying edit and cut out the DJs intros and adverts.
I remember when they said he was touring to Australia, my older cousin said we had to go. I did not think she even liked him but she knew his older songs and heard his live show was something special. It was a train ride into town an then another train to the Melbourne show grounds. We were queuing up for hours then standing with fifty thousand other people struggling to see Mr Springsteen and the stage. Maybe we should have queued longer and got closer. This was all new to me, looking back I am glad I was young as I do not think I would put up with it now. But having said all that the show, music and atmosphere was great, unforgettable and the best live show I have ever been too. I think it was the story telling as much as the music that set it apart from other concerts I have been too. It was so good for me that I remember buying his Live box set of albums, that came out later that year. That was probably my first album, I hung onto those albums for a long time before eventually selling them second hand. Looking back I should have probably hung onto them as souvenirs.

I was never in the Stones either. Outside of "Paint it Black" I don't understand that allure for most of their stuff. I like the Beatles a normal amount for the classics but they lose me at some of their stranger stuff that sounds like acid-trip stuff. I like Springsteen better than both of them as well. His lyrics seem to have a lot more heart and soul in them about small town or family values and just have more impact on me.
I had forgotten about "Paint it Black" it was also one of my favorites, seems like we have a few of the same tastes
