It is almost Thanksgiving Day, and family is arriving from Virginia for the week. I got the rest of the Christmas decorations up in the kitchen and dining areas. The Thanksgiving Cactus is in full bloom with many tiny buds still forming. I'm sure I will even have flowers for Christmas this year.

Earlier in the year I lost half of the plant due to weight and it being over 15 years old. This is what is left of it, and I've started two more from cuttings to ensure that I always have it.

At night the large basket of flowers is lit up to give that area of the living room some ambiance.

Over the kitchen sink is a simple swag and some little snowmen on the windowsill. Then I put up these strings of beading above the half wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room. I never use it for eating anymore since we don't have large gatherings. Now, I use this table for doing puzzles to keep me busy throughout the fall and winter months.

The house is so pretty with all the lights scattered throughout.

The server is where I usually put all the little ceramic trees and gingerbread houses. A string of fairy lights is underneath the spun matting which makes it looks so nice at night. Now that the house is finally decorated, I can focus on preparing for visitors. I have to set up the air mattress and tidy up the house before they arrive.
Wishing everyone in the states a wonderful Thanksgiving, and safe travels for all!

You are all set, the cactus is gorgeous and it is great you took a couple of cuttings!
Enjoy tomorrow and the visit. We shall put decorations up on Friday I think, I need to get shopping for tomorrow too, I do have a turkey crown. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you so kindly. I do my best to make the house festive. Have a wonderful time celebrating. ♥
That Thanksgiving cactus is stunning! Look at all the flowers! Even at only half surviving, it's lovely.
You sure doing a lot more decorating that I do, on the house. Mine's just a few candles and small figurines here and there, no lights besides the window candles.
Love the little gingerbread house.
Thanks, Pam. I used to add one new decoration a year. After 55+ years stuff added up. I have thinned out a lot of bins the past 5 years and alternate colors often. I've had the gingerbread houses for over 15 years and just love them; they make me smile. I made a few real ones, but they never survived from year to year. lol
