Hello hello silver bloggers, music lovers and Hello hivers!
Inspiration don't you just love it? Today's inspiration comes from my second last ttt post I just can't get enough! and the comments with my fellow music loving friend @thebighigg
We had been discussing my Depeche Mode ttt and Vince Clark who of course left them and formed Erasure and with Alison Moyet Yazoo.
So today we are having three songs from Yazoo!
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Yazoo – The Synth-Pop Pioneers
Yazoo were a groundbreaking English synth-pop duo formed in Basildon, Essex (just like Depeche Mode!), in 1981.
The band consisted of former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke (synths/songwriting) and the incredibly powerful vocalist Alison Moyet.
Talk about short lived, but they packed one hell of a punch.. They only lasted for 18 months and released just two studio albums, yet they created music that remains influential and instantly recognisable today.
Their stats (taken from Wikipedia) speak for themselves:
Yazoo reached the UK Top 10 with all three of their single releases.
Both their albums, Upstairs at Eric's and You and Me Both, reached the UK Top 2.
They won the Brit Award for Best British Newcomer in 1983.
Their song "Only You" is one of the most covered tracks of the 1980s.
If you have read down to here, then fair play to you and let's get this final show on the road.

Kicking it off with the tune that sparked this ttt
Tune 1 - Yazoo – Only You
Release Date: 15th March 1982 (Single)
Album: Upstairs at Eric's (1982)
All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you
About the Tune: This timeless ballad was written by Vince Clarke and was actually the first song he wrote after leaving Depeche Mode. It is a deceptively simple and intimate track, combining Clarke's minimal, melancholic synth melody with Alison Moyet's incredibly emotional and soulful delivery. It became their debut single and launched them instantly into the UK Top 3. It’s an absolute masterclass in stripped-back, heartfelt synth-pop.

Tune 2 - Yazoo – Don’t Go (Remix) (2018 Remaster)
Release Date: 9th July 1982 (Single)
Album: Upstairs at Eric's (1982)
About the Tune: A sharp contrast to "Only You," this track is a driving, industrial-tinged dance anthem. It features a heavy, infectious synth bass line and Moyet’s raw, almost guttural, vocal performance, which perfectly conveys the song's tension and urgency. It was a massive club hit across Europe and remains a staple of 80s electronic music. It went straight into the UK Top 3.

Tune 3 - Yazoo – Nobody’s Diary
Release Date: 20th May 1983 (Single)
Album: You and Me Both (1983)
About the Tune: This tune was the duo's final single before they broke up, and it’s perhaps the least conventional of their hits. Written and sung by Alison Moyet, it captures a feeling of disillusionment and frustration, marking a shift in sound for the duo. It’s a powerful, bluesy track underpinned by Clarke’s typically innovative electronic arrangement. It reached the UK Top 3, making it three for three for the short-lived, brilliant band.

So there you have it — my absolute bangers from Yazoo this week.
Which was your favourite tune? Or have you never heard of them?

Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

I used to like Yazoo. I did see Alison Moyet in concert back in the day. She was just as good live as she was on vinyl. I'm showing my age now!
