I took my photos of this little American Goldfinch when I was visiting Cromwell Valley Park in Baltimore County, Maryland. This one is a male which is more brightly colored than the female. During Winter though he is not as brightly colored. I took these in late Spring so his bright yellow feathers were really noticeable and caught my eye.
I'm happy that I was able to catch this small bird as it didn't stick around long before flying off. I've only seen them a few times in my own yard and have never had my camera close by to catch one. They definitely are a beautiful and cheery color and they also sing a delightful song. I did have a few house finches show up pretty regularly to my feeders last Spring but then we had to stop filling the feeders for a few months due to a bird illness throughout our state. I'm hoping they show up again this year and that the American Goldfinch visits as well.

These are gorgeous! I haven't seen too many goldfinches yet, but, I think they usually get lost in the feeders. The feeder(all four of them) is like a Black Friday Sale at the opening! Seems everyone wants to get in all at once!

Hi Denise! It is such a beautiful day today! I've been trying to clean up the gardens the last few days but working in small increments so as not to "overdo it". Listening to the birds singing outside is such a joy and flowers are starting to come up. I've seen tulips and daffodils already in some areas. Mine only have the leaves up but I'm sure the flowers will show up soon enough. The junipers didn't make it last year so I bought a couple more to try again. I took photos to do a Market Friday post but time seems fleeting lately but I will get it up I hope. I'm gonna go take some more advantage of this beautiful day and get back out to the garden for another bit. Want it looking good for when the flowers get here. 😉💕
