Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 79 - Two Different Birds

The last photograph is my entry to Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 79 - Two Different Birds.

The heron was getting a bit mouthy with the mallards.

Thankfully, there wasn't any little ducklings around as herons would literally make a meal of them. I didn't realise what long tongues they had.

It took flight in the end but it will be back as it seems to have taken up residency on this lake. How they get off the ground I will never know.

Thank you to the Feathered Friends Community, @nelinoeva, @oks2crypto, @melinda010100, @barbara-orenya and @chromiumone.

Bouncing up out of the water lovely shot, two species together keeping pond healthy.

Thank you @joanstewart. Yes, the pond is in good health.

When bird life frequents water it normally is clean.

That is one very long tongue. Mind you, I have never seen herons with beaks wide open.
Thanks again for your entry!

No me neither. Thank you.
