Southern Double-collared Sunbird or Lesser Double-collared Sunbird (Cinnyris chalybeus) - A Shy Friend

in Feathered Friends4 years ago (edited)

I think I posted my first photograph in this community a couple of months ago with this little shy friend. He always comes and goes when I am not near my camera. He never stays that long and when I move to get the camera he flies away. For some reason, he liked this particular bush. I rand upstairs to find my camera and got back with him still eating something in this bush. I quickly shot some photographs but these do not do justice to the beauty of this bird. We are so lucky to have him (and his wife!) in the garden. They make the most beautiful sound. Please enjoy this awesome bird!

Come on!
I just commented on your Chameleon and what an amazing green colour you oresented and now these shots!
Spectacular. Never seen a bird looking like this!
Thank you for sharing...

Thank you for both comments! And yes, this is a very special little bird and the colours again is not exaggerated. The sun fell perfectly on their feathers and it reflected with this beautiful golden green sheen.

They are such amazing birds and I am quite envious that they live in your garden! Thanks for posting to the #featheredfriends community

Thanks again for the awesome community! Yes, they are remarkable and so tiny actually. I was really lucky to get the shot. And thanks to the rain that helped most of the plants we have an abundance of creatures and feathered friends here!
