In August I Probably saw my first spoonbill at the Inn River, I have never seen it there only on other spots like the Lake Neusiedler but assume it started to migrate back to Africa from probably Germany and rested there since it is a bigger wetland in-between the way from Germany to the south. Unfortunately it was already in the evening and the sun was already setting so the Quality of the images is not so good because of the lack of light. But you can see the red of the sunset in it's wings. The bird did already stay at the Inn river for at least a day since other birders saw it the day before Stefan and I visited the spot and we had luck that it still didn't left. Even though the encounter was really short and it just flew by, I was very happy to find it here.

I am very gratefull that I have spots like the Inn River or some spots at the Danube where a lot of birds rest and stop for a short time during bird migration. Due to this fact I am able to see a lot of bird species that are usually not so common in Austria. Some of them form bigger flocks when migrating and then the possibility to find them is easier. Getting some information from bird spotters that input their data on an app can always help to find seldom birds like these.
