Watching the Little Egret in the shallow water

During the warm time of the year I often can watch the little egret searching for food at the Inn River. It is one of the several heron species we have here in Austria, it is one of the more seldom ones. It feeds on frogs, small fish and other small animals it can find in the water. During summer time it can be found here in Austria, in winter it migrates to Africa and southern Asia to over-winter there.

I think it is a very greaceful bird with its beautiful wing featers and fine feathers it has on the back. The tine feather on the head is a good distinctive feature of them.

The Little Egret is one of the bigger birds you can find at the Inn River, most of the other birds there are smaller, there are only some other herons and some birds of prey that are bigger in size. It is a very elegant bird that is often running around in the shallow water. I like taking pictures of this birds since it is probably the most elegant heron.
