Wonderfull Holiday with a lot of birds of prey

in Feathered Friends4 years ago (edited)

I spent the last week at the #wetlands of the March and the Thaya in Lower #Austria for some #wildlife #photography together with Stefan. Also, this time we were very lucky and found a lot of birds of prey flying in this region looking for food in the open fields. This was the perfect opportunity for us to get some nice images. Most of the time it was a perfect but a bit hot weather and the trips we did where a bit exhausting. We were wandering around in the fields and also did some small #hiking trips to the hills that are in this region.

Because we were not able to fly to #Greece (we canceled our holiday there because of the Covid-19 situation at the moment) this year we did this holiday in #Austria instead. I have to say that Austria is also always very beautiful, and I am always amazed how many beautiful images I bring home from our trips but a bit of variety in the destinations would not be bad. Let's see how this Covid Situation will take. I hope not too long. I also took several pictures of other birds, landscapes and also from the seldom green lizard but i will show you these in a future article here on Hive.

That Red Kite is magnificent and although we also have them here in South Africa, I haven't seen one yet. The falcon also looks familiar, but we have no Ospreys here.
The Osprey looks a lot like our Jackal Buzzard.

A great post here my friend!

I think it is the common buzzard (Buteo buteo). For sure no Osprey.

You might be correct, as it certainly has many buzzard features, but I am only familiar with the South African ones. Like I said, I have never seen an Osprey, so I cannot judge this one.

Excellent photos of these magnificent birds in flight! Thanks for posting to the #featheredfriends community!
