Hello! Today I'm going to share with you some photos that I have been able to take of a bird that for about 4 years has become another inhabitant in my city. Although they have always been seen flying very high above our skies, they didn't perch on buildings or live in the city, however, this has changed.
Con sus grandes alas negras de casi 1,70 cms de envergadura, se apoderan de los cielos de mi ciudad planeando con gracia y elegancia a grandes alturas y demostrando que poseen uno de los más impresionantes vuelos del reino animal. De personalidad tímida y silenciosa, se mueven sin molestar evitando cualquier contacto con el ser humano, sin embargo son aves muy sociables entre sí.
With their big black wings of almost 1.70 cm wingspan, they take over the skies of my city, gliding with grace and elegance at great heights and showing that they have one of the most impressive flights in the animal kingdom. With a shy and silent personality, they move without disturbing, avoiding any contact with people, however they are very sociable birds with each other.
En los días soleados disfruto ver como vuelan en parejas o grupos haciendo pausas de vez en cuando para descansar en las partes más altas de los edificios. También he podido apreciar a los padres volando y jugando en el aire con sus jóvenes crías.
On sunny days I enjoy watching them fly in pairs or groups, pausing from time to time to rest on the highest parts of buildings. I have also been able to appreciate the parents flying and playing in the air with their young.
En Venezuela les decimos zamuros y la especie que hace vida en mi ciudad es el Coragyps Stratus o buitre negro americano. Están dotadas de grandes alas negras que pueden tener algunas plumas blancas en sus extremos, sus cuellos y cabezas son de color gris y sin plumaje y sus patas son robustas pero no fuertes.
In Venezuela we call them zamuros and the species that lives in my city is the Coragyps Stratus or American black vulture. They are endowed with big black wings that may have some white feathers on their ends, their necks and heads are gray and without plumage, and their legs are robust but not strong.

he logrado acercarme a hacerle fotos a aves pequeñas que se posan en mi balcón pero las veces que he visto zamuros en el techo de mi edificio y salgo a mi balcón para tomarles fotos se asustan y salen volando así que las fotos que he podido tomarles han sido de lejos.
Photographing birds is difficult because they get scared, however, I have managed to get close to take photos of small birds that perch on my balcony, but the times I have seen vultures on the roof of my building and I go out to my balcony to take photos of them, they get scared and fly away, so the photos I have been able to take of them have been from afar.
Los zamuros son los encargados de limpiar la naturaleza de los cadáveres y a muchas personas no les gustan por ser carroñeros y andar siempre cerca de los basureros. Observándolos he visto lo mucho que les gusta volar en grupo dando circulos a grandes alturas y lo unidos que son como grupo familiar ya que ambos padres se encargan de cuidar a las crías y de enseñarles a volar. Me gusta su tímida personalidad y su majestuosa y relajante manera de planear.
The vultures are in charge of cleaning the nature of the corpses and many people don't like them because they are scavengers and they are always near the dumpsters. Watching them I have seen how much they like to fly in groups circling at great heights and how united they are as a family group since both parents are in charge of taking care of the young and teaching them to fly. I like their shy personality and their majestic and relaxing way of glide the skies.

Me impresiona verlos siempre, cuando vuelan en enjambre sobre todo por la tarde cuando cae el sol, cerca de los lugares donde pernoctan, son cientos y cientos de estos que vuelan en grandes círculos, todo un espectáculo de la naturaleza!
Sí, su vuelo da envidia jejeje, lo hacen con tal gracia y calma que da gusto verlos. Aquí no son tantos los que se ven entre los techos de los edificios pero cuando se les ve volando en círculos a grandes alturas ahí sí que son muchos más, como que los vienen a visitar sus amigos de otros lados para volar juntos ☺️
Para ellos debe ser un idilio, una cuestión mágica ese vuelo, esa reunión especial en las alturas, como no causar envidia :)
Amazing birds. I remember seeing them in Mexico. Not in the center of the city but on the outskirts. I used to jog in that area and they were watching me from the trees. It actually felt a bit a weird and creepy, kind of like they were waiting for me to stumble, fall and die so that they could feed on me :D
