It is not the first time that I speak of these foreigners from the coast, who by circumstances I imagine that determined by the aggressions suffered by their essentially marine habitats, they have chosen to emigrate inland, getting used to an environment that is not their own: cormoranes .
There are several pairs of cormoranes hanging around what is possibly the most charming area of Madrid's Parque del Retiro: the Palacio de Cristal and its small lake, whose water cypress trees momentarily turn golden splendor when autumn reaches them.
I do not know if it will be a custom to dry off after bathing - by the way, animals whose calm character hardly changes when people approach them - but they always tend to offer a little show of "warming up" their wings, worthy of admiration.
And when they stay like this, they can believe that for several minutes, with those outstretched wings and deep jet plumage, I always have the impression of seeing a living relative of those terrible flying saurians of the Jurassic, which were the pterodactyls.

Pues la verdad es que sí, aunque creo que me he equivocado y no es un albatros sino un cormorán. En qué estaría pensando. Lo cierto es que son aves simpáticas y como bien dices, excelentes nadadoras. De hecho, recuerdo que una vez vi a uno lanzarse al agua como un cohete y no había forma de verle salir. Deben aguantar debajo del agua un tiempo realmente increíble. Son varias las parejas que tenemos aquí y la verdad es que es un espectáculo verlas. Feliz día
