Bullfinches feast on rowan berries

in Feathered Friends2 years ago

This year we have a lot of rowan berries. The year was very fruitful. With the onset of a cold period of time, especially after the first frost, when the rowan berries ripened and filled with juice, they became very tasty.

Many birds began to fly to the rowan trees and feast on ripe tasty berries. Bullfinches especially liked these berries. They flew to the rowan trees in small flocks. They sat down and ate rowan berries with pleasure.

Apparently they really liked these berries. I very often saw bullfinches sitting on trees, tearing them off with their beaks and eating them. Just amazing. After all, the berries were very cold. Ice. And they ate them and did not get sick. Perhaps they were very hungry.

Perhaps the birds are already accustomed to eating cold food in winter, even frozen food. Surprisingly, there were bird feeders nearby. But they didn't fly there. Although there were a lot of tits there. It is not clear why they ignored the feeders where the sunflower seeds were poured.

They probably liked the use of rowan berries more. But the boobs are the other way around. They did not eat rowan berries. But they really liked the seeds. Bullfinches, on the contrary, importantly sat on rowan branches and slowly ate rowan berries.

It was possible to watch the bullfinches for a long time as they jumped along the branches from one bunch of mountain ash to another. Apparently they were looking for more delicious berries.

The bullfinches were more interested in the seeds inside the rowan berries. They did not eat the flesh and spit it out.
