January Geese

in Feathered Friends3 years ago

We have had a fairly mild winter, especially snow wise. The last two years this field was pretty much snow covered for at least a couple months. It appears this year the geese have taken notice and decided to cut their flight south a little short.

Can't say that I blame them, it is a beautiful view. 😀

The following are panoramas trying to capture some of the near 100 birds that were grazing through the field.

I would imagine that those geese are finding plenty to eat at that field with a glorious view. Thanks for posting to the #featheredfriends community!

You are welcome! Thanks for having me. 😀

Oh wow, amazing and such great numbers. Not sure if geese are the same where you're from but the ones that have been released into our wetlands are aggressive as anything. They will often swim across a lake/pond mount the bank and chase you.

Theyre so territorial. Lil Miss 3 loves it when we ride past the lake, the Geese know us now and know we are coming and start hammering it across the lake to us and chase us. Fortunately we are on the bike and are able to get away 🤣

I'm not sure either. I know swans can be pretty aggressive. I saw a clip recently of a poor guy swimming in a pond and a black swan attacking him relentlessly. It didn't look like fun. :)

Hahaha yeah they can be especially around nesting time and when they have young cygnets. They're beautiful birds though.
