Birdlife in the wild.

Now you will be as surprised as I was when you see what was going on below this Cape Sugarbird.

There are many nature lovers and especially bird loving members in this community and nature has so much to offer us. All for free of course. Not only beautiful pictures, but also peace and grace for our souls.
This is the reason why we should all care about nature.
Come and look.

Here was the surprise that I got when I opened the photos on my PC. A pair of Cape Bulbuls flirting with each other!

A mother Moorhen and her youngster in the dam.

This is the dam where the Moorhens live. I also got the Snapper Turtles here in this dam.

Finally, I will end this post with the Cape Sugarbird again.

Many a poem and a song have been written and sung about nature most about love and peace. Solitude and meditation are also noted often and they are all truths, for me at least.
I am at my most happy and contented state when I am in nature with camera. No amount of money can buy this contentment.
All for free to all of us here in this world.

And That's All Friends.

Note: All photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera.

We hope that you enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Such beautiful shots of the birds, I hope the week is starting well for you

Thank you my friend and yes, thankfully a dry day and will stay dry until Thursday.

Blessings and !ENGAGE25

That’s great did you send the storm here was nice out then suddenly dark rain and thunder

Glad I don’t need to go anywhere

Hahaha, the mountain goat also blamed me for sending the storm to Austria, so I think that it passed over your place to get there.
Bargain as I got two birds with one stone 🤣

Yes, a big blessing for you as no more struggles to get to work.

Stay well my friend.

Those sugarbirds are beautiful! We have never had them here. Only the little short tailed sunbird. So delicate. So striking. That moment you captured with the watching sugarbird and the bulbuls is excellent @papilloncharity

Thank you my friend, if you plant some Protea bushes there they will come for sure.
My father in law planted a protea in Johannesburg in their garden that grew into a tree and they have many sunbirds there.

Do you know what specie your short tailed sunbird is?
Maybe the "Orange Breasted", or the "Double-collared" ones?

Cheers and !BEER

Hi Zac! Ummm....can I send you a photo? I'm not so clued up with birds. Planting proteas is a brilliant idea! For the first time this year we actually have butterflies back so maybe that little elusive sugarbird can be lurred in

IMG_3219.JPG

Ah! So you have the king of the sunbirds there my friend. That is the Malachite (Nectarinia famosa) that I was talking about. May you had a suspicion of what it is?

We also have a heap of butterflies around, mainly Painted Ladies and the White Cabbage ones.

I am going to use this painted lady shot in a post, so you are the first to see it.

She is beautiful! Thank you for sharing with me! No. I didn't actually know that. Now I do! We sometimes have the Malachite Kingfisher diving fish out of our dam - also a cormorant. Although they are too shy for my camera. S

Hi S,
Thank you and yes, the Malachite Kingfisher is indeed a beauty. Best way to get them is watch where they often sit and the times that they are at the dam. Then you find a hidden spot with a clear view and wait there for them. Will maybe take an hour or two, but sooner or later you will get nice shots of him.

Well worth the wait, as you might even get him with a fish in his beak.

Cheers and !BEER

Yes....well......ummmm....my life is not exactly conducive to 5 minutes alone time let alone an hour or two! Everyone jokes about any new project I need to do must be fitted in between 2 and 3 AM. But maybe I'll manage to sneak up on King Fisher

What amazing tail feathers on the Cape Sugarbird! That is just lovely!

Thank you Sir Keith, their tails are their prize possessions, as they attract the females with it.
I also said eleswhere that the Malachites are not yet around, as they are more colorful and also have long tails. I will post them when they arrive.

Cheers and !BEER

I'm interested to see your malachites... I'm not familiar with these birds.

Sorry, this one slipped through Sir Keith.
Good morning to you and I think that by now you have seen our Malachites.
Metallic green in the day and in the late afternoon sun, they turn a dark blue.

Nature is filled with so many magnificent sights! All we have to do is be willing to pause and look around us. Those are quite some tailfeathers on the Sugarbird... we don't have anything like that around here (Northwestern USA).

=^..^=

Thank you and yes, you are 100% correct, as all that it wants from us is to spend some quiet time in it.
Yes, they have long tail feathers and when the Protea flowers bloom, I will post the king of the Sunbirds, called the Malachite. Their tails are also long, but they are way more colorful.

We are down on the southern tip of the African continent in the Western Cape Province and the country is flooded with wildlife.

Thank you and yes, their tails attract the females and they are blessed.

Absolutely! No amount of money can buy this kind of peace and contentment. Reading this post felt like you were reading my mind. Nature and a camera around my neck is enough to keep me happy. Birds and flowers are the icing on the cake.
Have a lovely day!!

Oh yes, we are of the same mind with regards to nauture.
Everything in nature is the icing on the cake, but the smell and the taste is heaven on earth.
Sheer contentment my friend.
