The reason for the birdbath.

A perfect plan was to install the bath for the small birds and many different species of small birds use this bath.

But in any plan, there is always a twist in the tail (tale).

They say that this is when life happens to spoil any plan.
Today I will show you the perfect plan in action and how mother nature decided to spoil the plan.
Come and have a look.

To illustrate how well our perfect plan worked here we had a delightful view of a couple of Cape Robin Chats at the bath.

Even the little Cape Sparrows and other small birds came to have a drink.

Mister Cape Robin Chat always has much attitude when he takes a bath.

A fierce flapping of his wings and tail to cleanse his body.

But then life happened to our plan!

The Egyptian Goose, lady Sally now uses the bird bath like I showed you yesterday.

And the Cape Ringneck doves use the bath of the Geese hahaha.

We always soak the special bread for the geese in the water to prevent them from choking on dry bread and the other birds have noticed it. Even some little field mice now visit the goose bath and it has been turned into a general feeding station.
The geese still pop in to eat from it, but they now prefer the bird bath for their bathing.
So we will leave the new plan as is.

And That's All Friends!

I need to get a new birdbath. We have had a ceramic hanging one for many years, but this winter I guess the frost got to is as it has cracks that leak now. It lasted pretty well from being out all the time. Our bird feeder is very popular with sparrows and doves. Don't think I've seen a goose in the garden.

Oh yeah, ours also has a crack in it and these things never seem to last.
We are also looking for a bigger one, but they have become very pricey, so I am starting to think that I must make our own.
I have a small pump and are thinking about a possible water feature running on a tank of rainwater.
So we will see how it goes.

Hope that you will also get a nice one Sir Steve.

Blessings!

I have plans for a new pond this year that I hope the birds will use, but I will look at setting up another bath too.

Looking forward to your posts about the ponds Sir Steve.
Way to go!

The best laid plans! 😁 Sounds like they have it sorted out in a way they are happy with!

Full of surprises in ways that we never allow for in our plans.
Always teaching us new lessons.

Yhank you again for the kind tip.

Love to see all the bird life in your yard!
Sally looks a little big for the bird bath but hey! if it's working for her why not! Then it's leaving her breaded bath open for the other birds more.

Thank you my friend and Sally just her own thing. All of te others think that she rules the roost and even our little Troy is careful of her.
Harry is walking with a limp and it means that the old warrior was in a fight with either another goose or a cat again. He will of course not let me look at it.
Things here in the garden seems to work themselves out and we are happy not to interfere.
