As I headed out for my walk, at the head of the lane, the robins were making a ruckus as I came nearer. First the male came by checking me over.
Male Robin All Puffed Up Checking Me Out
He was not afraid of me and kept hopping from one fence post to the next and he was calling out.

Then his mate appeared and she seemed distressed too. I knew something was up for they were sticking close to that one area and doing lots of chirping.

Then I found out what all the fuss was about - there was a young fledgling which came out of the tall grass and onto the road. He couldn't fly properly yet and he was heading my way. When he got closer he checked me out too.
Young Robin Fledgling on Gravel Road
I saw my neighbor approaching with his big truck and now it was my turn to be in distress. I tried to chase the robin off the road but it couldn't take flight. The parents were really stressed when this was happening but the neighbor had stopped his truck and I managed to get the youngster off the road and safely to the other side where he had come from. When I backed off the momma bird flew in and got him back into the bush and to safety - phew!

Further up the road when I had stopped to take some photos of wildflowers the tree sparrow was flitting around trying to get me away. It must of had a nest close by by it's actions and the fact that he had a worm in his beak that he was probably taking back to the nest.

And even further still a pair of ravens were perched on an old railing checking things out.
Under those rails were some wild roses. There were quite a few roses in bloom now and in those newly opened blooms were numerous insects taking in the sweet nectar.

The flies were really attracted to the newly open roses too.

And the flies were on the wild strawberry blooms too.

The bumblebees were working the alfalfa flowers.

Along with all the pollinators the damselflies were out enjoying the warm summer days.

Other wildflowers that were out in bloom were the anemones. There were two different types, the larger white blooming ones and the others that had very small petals on their flowers but were a lovely pink color.

What now was becoming plentiful along the roadside was the dogbane and bedstraw in bloom

More and more tiger lilies were coming up - our provincial flower.

Great photos and great walk.👍
Those images are lovely and remind me of natural beauty and innocence. There just lovely1
That Dogbane is really pretty! I love tiger lilies. We used to have one that bloomed by the bridge for many years. But they did some construction there lately and so it is gone. :((
Wow amazing photos all so beautiful what a brilliant post
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk
Very cool how you captured multiple insects in a single shot. And even a couple of times. Very nice pictures!
We also have robins @porters!! But ours in SA look quite different - except for the red part. Ours are peculiar to our area, the Cape Robin. They're fat and shy. But for some reason our cats never touch them. Which I'm really happy about. Loved the photos of the busy bees. The flies not so much. Yuck. Do you ever get ladybugs on your alfalfa? Ours are FULL of them
I wish we had more ladybugs here for we have an outbreak of aphids this year and ladybugs would clean them up pretty quick.
I wish our field ladybugs would move to the gardens! We still get outbreaks of aphids on the brasillicas
A wonderful walk and wonderful photos!
