🦉 The common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus)

📚 Carpodacus Greek: karpos fruit, daknō to bite
📚 erythrinus erythros (Greek, lat.) red

These beautiful birds that look like red sparrows are not rare, but they can only be seen for a short time. They return from wintering by flying far to the east, and then return back to their usual habitats in the summer. And because of this, they lose a lot of time, so they arrive late, somewhere in the middle of May.

Their mating season begins, the males defiantly sing songs, besides, the trees have not yet blossomed and there is no foliage on them, so nothing prevents you from admiring beautiful birds. But this does not last long, the foliage blooms, and the mating season is short. And already in the summer these birds are not seen or heard, despite the fact that they are.
They also fly back very early for the winter.
