The black kite (Milvus migrans)
In appearance, this bird of prey seems formidable. But appearances are deceiving! A few days ago I watched as a small fragile wagtail drove and attacked this predator.
In general, in my yard, in addition to the usual pigeons and sparrows, there are also wild birds, but they are few. These are mainly great tits that fly to me for nuts. And also a redstart, several wagtails. Yesterday another siskin was half a day on the trees in the trees.
And of course, black kites fly very often, causing fear in pigeons.
Having hardly seen this predator, pigeons scatter in different directions, some for the house, some in the ventilation opening of the houses.
When I came here to the city where I still live, I was very surprised that birds of prey fly right over the yards. Where I used to live this was not. And here it is full of them! Black kites mainly inspect the trash for scraps, bones. I remember people leaving a bit of food for stray dog, so the kites happily pulled everything away.
And three days ago, kites began to fly very low. Because the time has come when chicks hatch. So they are looking for them, magpies and wagtails in every way drive them away from their nests.
