Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 102

Round 102, show me a picture of some bird tracks should be an interesting #SMaP.

I wonder what the #featheredfriends community will come up with this week. Here in Upstate New York we have the perfect medium, snow, for birds to leave their tracks in. With all of the snow we've gotten lately, filling the bird feeders is no simple task. But, throwing some seed on our front porch is simple.
We like to keep the porch free of snow in order to do this. When the deck is clean and when newly fallen snow first starts to blanket the deck, bird prints are all over the place. We get all kind of visitors and before long it's hard to tell one print from the next, but if you catch the guests early on, their prints are easy to distinguish. These prints were left behind by a Black- capped chickadee.

Here is a closeup of their footprint.

The Cardinal is another bird that endures the cold winters and joins in on the feeding frenzy.

Usually the Cardinals are very skittish, but with food hard to find I was only several feet from them, sitting on the porch, when I took this pic. By this point the bird tracks were a pile of mish mosh.

This set of prints were off to the side, several feet from all of the activity.

Capturing both the male and female Cardinal in the same photo is rare,
but when you're hungry your hungry.

It wont be long before this seed disappears.

These footprints were left by some Morning Doves.

Once the doves found the seed they showed up in numbers.
At one point I counted ten of them all feeding at the same time.

Many thanks to @melinda010100 and her buddies @barbara-orenya, and @nelinovia for the tireless hours spent running this wonderful #featheredfriends community.

Oh I love it, missing my friends.
Missing you more ❤️

1st photo looks like they left some message for you! ;)

That is a message, the message reads, please throw some more seed on the deck, food is tough to find this time of year.

I knew you have saved some photos for the contest after I read your #Wednesdaywalk post. Your feathered friends are so lucky to be close to you, who would refuse free food. 🙂
It is great to know who left the footie prints on the snow. Great shots. 👍

Wow imagine having to look for food in this weather, I am sure they were happy to get a treat!

Do you know how to recognize which species is which just by looking at the foot print?

When I first threw some seed on the freshly fallen snow, once a bird landed I took a picture of its footprints. I was able to see the prints of the chickadee, cardinal, and morning dove. After a while, all of the prints got mixed together.

It is very difficult for birds to find food in the snow in this winter. As you have taken and fed the birds, people should do the same so that these birds do not die of hunger. Here in Pakistan too, people have a food system on their roof for birds.

This time of year I'm sure they appreciate finding food on our deck on a daily basis, rather than having to fly around looking for a morsel or two in the wild.

Yay! 🤗
