Some #FeatheredFriends show their love for @parul2411's #ThursdayTreeLove

I'm back for another of Parul's awesome #ThursdayTreeLove photo features on her amazing #WordPress blog, Happiness and Food! This time, because of the particular tree I decided to focus on today, I'm adding some #FeatheredFriends into the mix!

If you want to join in the Tree love fun, it's really easy - here's the description from her latest post today, called #ThursdayTreeLove – 93

Thursday Tree love is a photo feature hosted on this blog on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of a month. The next edition will go live on August 27, 2020. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to this post.

If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.

And the #FeatheredFriends community on Hive is the brainchild of the also wonderfully awesome @melinda010100, who has been supporting posts from avian admirers for ages on the blockchain (and note to my Hive friends - there's now a Feathered Friends account, if you'd like to follow it for official announcements). Here's the community description -

Photography, art, stories. All of your original content photos and posts about birds are welcome here.

Some #FeatheredFriends show their #ThursdayTreeLove

  #ThursdayTreeLove 1
Much like for my Shagbark Tree Love post (and you can see this tree in the first picture on that post too), I took this picture outside earlier this morning, while standing in front of our bedroom window to get an unobstructed look at another one of my favorite trees on the property. This one, which is actually sort of three trees in one, is special because of how many of my feathered friends like to perch on that broken branch that sort of... branches off...

And I say three trees in one, because there's the main part of the tree in the center of the photo, that mostly dead branch that was obviously a growing off shoot at one time, and at the base of the tree you can see a stump, which is all that remains of the tree (which is attached to the main tree in such a way that it's also part of it) which was at one time almost as tall as the main, but was felled by a storm a couple of years before we rented this house. It was apparently tall enough that it landed on the corner of this place - luckily not doing any damage, but yikes!

  #ThursdayTreeLove 2
I've always assumed this is a type of oak tree, and have never really looked into it. As you can see (it's the one in the center) it's gloriously tall, even while the offshoot Y bit (which you can also see center bottom) is positioned perfectly as a perch.

  #ThursdayTreeLove 3
From this angle. it almost looks like two separate trees.

And this is a closer look at the branch that has had many visitors over the years, including...

  Grackle #FeatheredFriends
This Cranky Grackle in October of 2015

  Bluebird #FeatheredFriends
A chilly Bluebird after a storm in April 2016

  Goldfinch #FeatheredFriends
This Goldfinch (possibly a young male) in May of 2016

  Crow #FeatheredFriends
"My" crow I named Angel in December 2017 - side note, I used this pic as my profile picture on Facebook for ages.

  Turkey Vulture #FeatheredFriends
Yes, even the Turkey Vultures like to take a seat here, as this one did in May of 2018

  Hawk #FeatheredFriends
My husband loved this shot of a Red-tailed Hawk (taken in June 2018) so much that he still uses it as his phone's wallpaper (and still occasionally shows it off to his customers 😊).

  Owl #FeatheredFriends
While there's been loads more visitors, I thought I'd end with this Barred Owl, WHO dropped by in September 2018.

Thanks again for giving me the excuse to take a few new tree snaps today, Parul! I've gotten out of the daily picture taking habit, and I'm slowly getting back into it, so having themes like #ThursdayTreeLove and #FeatheredFriends (who don't always show up daily...lol) really helps! Oh, and extra appreciation for the brain nudge on Twitter - I was already planning to jump in again, but reminders like that really help my old lady brain!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Gorgeous bird photos! It's so cool to see all the different birds using that dead branch as a perch! Thanks for the support you give to #featheredfriends!
It is very much appreciated!

Thanks so much, Melinda! I might do a followup post some day, with all the other birds I know have taken a seat there (which I apparently didn't tag very well, since I had a hard time finding them when searching my photo archives...lol). And you're very welcome - thanks in return for starting this community eons ago, and giving my bird photos (when I finally get around to posting them all again) such a wonderful home. Oh, and extra thanks for the tip! ❤️

My photos are not organized at all. Some are probably buried forever! I hope you find more birds on the branch.

Your pictures look so good. i have always loved nature and being indoors for the past weeks hasn't helped me experience it enough. Thank you for these amazing pictures

Hi @khaleesii - thanks so much for dropping by! Yes, we've been extremely lucky that while we've been under our state's Stay At Home orders off and on over the past few months, that we live in such a rural area so we can at least get outside. I'm glad you enjoyed my photos - I'm hoping to start posting more regularly, and getting feedback like yours helps motivate me, so thank you in return! 💜
