This weekend, I visited a nature reserve situated around a forested lake in Western Michigan, USA. With the coming of Spring and the beginning of the breeding season for the region's many migratory and non-migratory bird species, I went out hoping to capture a few pictures of our feathered friends while I wait for temperatures to rise and the local morel season to begin.
Less than 2 weeks ago, this same lake was relatively quiet, with the sounds of songbirds and waterfowl alike being virtually non-existent. This has all changed it that short period of time. While on my walk, I was greeted by a host of different bird species including ducks, geese, blackbirds, and a swan among others.
It seems like Spring has finally sprung in the Northern United States: a gladly welcomed event after another cold, grey winter.
Attached are images of the bird, fungal, and floral species found while on my walk as well as shots of the surround environment. As always, feel free to correct me on my identifications if you believe I am mistaken. Thank you!
