These are three things that drive a breadwinner to strive hard in life. To be successful not just for herself but especially for her family.
Be with me as we explore the life story of a simple breadwinner girl.
Hi, my name is Jonalyn Camayudo but you can call me Jona, I was born in a poor family, where eating bread was always a luxury. Yes, I remember we can only eat bread during Christmas and New Year. I grew up eating rice with salt, sometimes rice with soy sauce and oil. But I'm grateful because I can still eat twice a day.
My life story is like what you see in movies. I never met my father, he left my mother after he knew my mother was pregnant. Besides his family doesn't like my mom. I grew up with my grandparents, because after I was born my mother decided to find work in the city. She came home when I was in elementary, with my younger brother. But without my brother's father. He also left my mother while she was in labor. My family tried every means to support my education. I started selling delicacies in elementary until college, I do that everyday before I go to school. I am fully aware of my responsibilities at that very young age. There are challenges along the way, lessons that are essential for me to be a better version of myself.
My childhood dream was to be a chef, but my situation didn't allow that. In the end I choose education as my college course. I am a graduate of bachelor of secondary education major in technology livelihood education.
After I graduated, I took a licensure examination for teachers, glory to God, I passed. That moment was priceless, it was a roller coaster of positive and negative emotions, I remembered crying nonstop, not just because I passed but because my best friends didn't passed the exam. Can you imagine those emotions? They sent their congratulations, but deep inside of me there was a feeling of pity and guilt. I can't do anything but to comfort them and cheer them up. In the end, we are still friends.
My first teaching experience was in a private school. I taught from Grade 7 to Grade 12. I have learned many things for my 3 whole years in that school. There are a lot of first times. A lot of encouragement and even discouragements. Those experiences taught me how to be strong and never give up.
Now I am an ESL teacher, I really like it because of the flexible time. I can still do things that I want.
I have been fond of reading and writing since I was a kid, in fact I write novels. I started this passion during my elementary days. But due to my responsibilities, this passion has been on hold.
One normal day, when I was just scrolling through my fb, I encountered a post of @antonette about how hive works. I immediately added her and was onboarded by her. I am fully aware and understand that using AI is prohibited, no to plagiarism, quality post and quality engagement is a must and must use own pictures which I would definitely abide. Finally, with her help there's an opportunity to continue my passion and share it to everyone. Through this community, I am free to share my thoughts, feelings, experiences, and journeys in life. Wow, your childhood was a very difficult time. But that has made you a strong woman who knows how to appreciate what she has. You have a wonderful profession, but one that requires great dedication. Hi teach @jellieys07 we have the same situation, I am also a breadwinner of my family. I also graduated with a degree of BSED major in TLE HET. It's inspiring to see someone turn hurdles into motivation , even in the absence of your father, perseverance can lead a person to rise above amidst of circumstances. I appreciate how you didn't just focus on the challenges, but also celebrated the small victories and success being the pillar of one's household.
