When a family member gets sick, one can feel stressed, sad and not knowing what to do. Well I never thought that would happen to me, until my mom got seriously ill with gallbladder stones, everything has been a very long and anguishing process, but yesterday thank God that she could be taken to the central hospital in Maracay to wait for the operation, in this publication I wanted to tell a little of what has been this whole process, all the challenges, blessings and bad moments and happy moments. My name is Fabian, and I am delighted to write for the first time in this community where love for the family comes first.

Well, I can say that it all started in July, when my dad called me mentioning that my mom was hospitalized in a CDI (this is like a communal ambulatory) he mentioned to me that she was there because she had severe abdominal pains and kept vomiting and also had a urinary infection, so I immediately went to see her and she seemed fine, the doctors told us that she had to have abdominal echoes to find out the cause of the pain. And they put her on IV solutions to hydrate her.

But when the echoes were done we discovered something much worse than we thought, and it was that she had gallstones and these were very large stones, and because of the size they were affecting my mom and that was the reason for the vomiting, she also had kidney stones, but they were not so big, so she was immediately transferred to the hospital in my city villa de cura to be hospitalized and given treatment to make her get better.

So she started a treatment to cure the urinary infection and to supposedly eliminate the bladder stones, but, although she was in the hospital for 3 weeks, and then kept absolute rest at home, my mother's health never improved and rather went from bad to worse. For example, in August she weighed almost 75 kilos of body weight, and yesterday when they were doing the tests to admit her in the waiting line for surgery, she currently weighed about 58 kilos of body weight, so she had lost more than 15 kilos in a short time, plus dehydration by constant vomiting had made her skin look flaky, and also because of the constant vomiting she had not been able to eat well because everything was rejected by the body. A friend of the family, who is a surgeon doctor, mentioned to us that gallstones are not treated with depuratives, that the best thing to do is to operate from the beginning because these things happen.

In the midst of all this very distressing situation, my mother's health was deteriorating more and more, she could no longer be able to walk on her own and she was only 50 years old, besides the urinary infection became an acute cystitis and the stones in the gallbladder and the lack of food had caused her to get bladder mud, so the doctors said she had to have an emergency operation because the gallbladder could burst and she could die. So that set off the emergency alarms even more, and between my father and my brothers we started to make the operation happen.

So we took her to the emergency hospital in my city and she was quickly referred to the central hospital in Maracay, but they sent her back because the tests they had done on my mother to operate were inconclusive, so we had to do more tests, then we had to fight against the bureaucracy and the hospital's waiting, and when we had the tests to operate on my mother, the doctors said that what she had was not so serious and that she could wait, but the tests they were sent to do clearly said something else.

So it was a big fight with my mom to be transferred in the ambulance, since we could not move her on our own because it could get complicated, so there were countless prayers to God to be able to solve the house and to give us patience not to treat anyone with disrespect. So since Saturday 5th of this month my mother was in the hospital in my city waiting for the transfer, each time she felt worse and said that it hurt a lot and she could not sleep well and finally when several nurses realized the seriousness of the health of my mother, they complained to the hospital and helped us to mobilize the ambulance and thanks to God and the help of nurses, family and friends, they could take her and now she is in line to wait for the operation.

But all this has been a constant struggle and very stressful, especially because you want your family member to be well, but the pressures and obstacles that one encounters make you feel very anxious and even lose hope. But thank God everything has been achieved quite well, let's hope that my mom can get out of this operation and that she recovers soon. Thank you so much for reading, this has been like a lifesaver or an escape for me, as I was very anxious about my mom's health, as no one wants to lose their parents. Besides, she still has a lot to live and get to know her grandchildren.

Thank you very much, see you in a future post where I will talk about how everything went :D
