Las mujeres de mi familia [ESP/ENG]

Cada familia en el mundo cuentan con mujeres que la integran, a veces son mayoría ellas que los hombres, o viceversa, pero siempre hay mujeres en todas las familias que logran marcarnos la vida, ya sea por su forma de ser, su carácter, su templanza, su amor o por el sacrificio que hacen día a día por sus familias.

Las mujeres en cada familia son pieza fundamental en el día a día de la dinámica familiar en cada hogar y fuera de él, logran con astucia hacer de todo con poco y multiplicarlo para dar hasta los que no tiene, tienen la capacidad de abrazar no solo con los brazos sino con todo el cuerpo y el alma, son hijas, esposas, madres, hermanas, tías, primas, trabajadoras, creativas, talentosas, valientes, fuertes, dedicadas y mucho más; de todas ellas (y más) hay en mi familia y hoy quiero hablarles de ellas.

Every family in the world has women who are part of it, sometimes they are more women than men, or vice versa, but there are always women in every family who manage to mark our lives, either by their way of being, their character, their temperance, their love or the sacrifice they make every day for their families.

Women in every family are a fundamental part in the day to day family dynamics in every home and outside it, they manage to do everything with little and multiply it to give even those who do not have, they have the ability to embrace not only with their arms but with their whole body and soul, they are daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, workers, creative, talented, brave, strong, dedicated and much more; there are all of them (and more) in my family and today I want to tell you about them.

Vengo de familia numerosa por ambas partes (papá y mamá), muchos tíos y tías, primos y primas, pero viendo cuántas mujeres hay en cada uno de los lados de esas dos familias, me doy cuenta que abundan más las mujeres en ellas que los hombres y no lo había visto de esta manera tan detallada sino hasta ahora.

Siempre he estado rodeado mujeres en mi vida, especialmente de mujeres en mi familia, todas ellas con cualidades y características tan únicas que fácilmente puedo identificarlas solo con que me den algún adjetivo característico de ellas y su nombre saldrá de mi boca sabiendo que es el adjetivo correcto para definir a esa mujer de mi familia.

Haber estado rodeado de tantas mujeres en mi familia ciertamente me dio la oportunidad de conocer algo que por cuenta propia no podría conocer sobre ellas, la esencia de la mujer como ser humano. Al estar tan cerca logré ver lo bueno y lo malo y pude comprender un poco sobre ellas y así apreciar pequeñas cosas que antes no podía hacer.

I come from a large family on both sides (mom and dad), many uncles and aunts, cousins and cousins, but seeing how many women there are on each side of those two families, I realize that there are more women in them than men and I had not seen it in this detailed way until now.

I have always been surrounded by women in my life, especially women in my family, all of them with such unique qualities and characteristics that I can easily identify them just by giving me some characteristic adjective about them and their name will come out of my mouth knowing that it is the right adjective to define that woman in my family.

Being around so many women in my family certainly gave me the opportunity to know something that I could not know about them on my own, the essence of a woman as a human being. By being so close I got to see the good and the bad and was able to understand a little about them and appreciate little things that I couldn't before.

Conocí de cerca el sacrificio que hacen por sus familias, en muchos aspectos, también en sacrificio de sacar adelante a sus hijos como madres solteras, como se daban a trabajar y estudiar para lograr tachar de la lista una meta que se habían propuesto y que con el paso del tiempo cada vez estaba más y más cerca.

Pude ver como buscaban la forma de reinventarse y abrirse espacios en medio de la multitud para ser vistas entre tanta gente, llevando sus obras hechas a mano, con gran esfuerzo, para que otros pudieran ver y probar de esas obras y deleitarse del maravilloso trabajo que habían creado para otros.

Ver como ellas celebraban los logros de sus familias, de sus esposos, hijos, sobrinos, nietos y los suyos propios con tanto furor como si ellas mismas estuviesen recibiéndolos como propios; ver la alegría hecha realidad y materializada en un negocio propio, un título universitario, en una familia bien formada y sólida, todo eso lo pude ver y ahora es que puedo decir lo afortunado que fui al poder estar presente en muchos de esos momentos.

I saw first hand the sacrifice they make for their families, in many aspects, also in the sacrifice of raising their children as single mothers, how they worked and studied to cross off the list a goal they had set and that as time went by was getting closer and closer.

I could see how they looked for ways to reinvent themselves and open spaces in the middle of the crowd to be seen among so many people, carrying their handmade works, with great effort, so that others could see and taste those works and delight in the wonderful work they had created for others.

To see how they celebrated the achievements of their families, their husbands, children, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and their own with as much fury as if they themselves were receiving them as their own; to see the joy made real and materialized in a business of their own, a university degree, in a well-formed and solid family, all that I could see and now I can say how fortunate I was to be able to be present in many of those moments.

Por supuesto también vi lágrimas, dolor, pérdida, sufrimiento, resignación, ausencia, silencio y derrota sobre algo o alguien querido, los golpes de realidad no siempre están a la vista de todos pero cuando te toca presenciarlos, puedes ver lo fuertes que serán para quienes les toca recibirlos.

A pesar de haber sufrido cualquier cantidad de tribulación en sus vidas y de cargar un peso casi imposible de llevar sobre sus hombros, también las vi levantarse, sacudirse el polvo y continuar caminando, reconociendo que la vida sigue y que solo se puede seguir andando hasta que llegue el momento de partir.

No siempre apreciamos la figura de la mujer en nuestras vidas como deberíamos, no en forma de idolatría, pero si reconociendo el valor que tienen y el papel que juegan en nuestras vidas.

Of course I also saw tears, pain, loss, suffering, resignation, absence, silence and defeat over something or someone dear to me, the blows of reality are not always visible to everyone but when you witness them, you can see how strong they will be for those who have to receive them.

Despite having suffered any amount of tribulation in their lives and carrying an almost impossible weight on their shoulders, I also saw them get up, shake off the dust and continue walking, recognizing that life goes on and that you can only keep walking until it is time to leave.

We do not always appreciate the figure of the woman in our lives as we should, not in the form of idolatry, but recognizing the value they have and the role they play in our lives.

Las mujeres de mi familia son todo lo que acaban de leer, pero también son mucho más y más de lo que yo puedo ver y de lo que a veces ellas mismas pueden ver de si mismas. Son valientes guerreras que están listas para enfrentar cualquier batalla que se les avecine y saben que cuentan con la protección perfecta para salir vencedoras una vez más frente a la adversidad.

Hoy agradezco a cada mujer de mi familia que se levantó en plena tormenta y decidió seguir remando contra la corriente y luchar hasta el final de la batalla; porque no hay guerrera como la mujer valiente y de esas no solo hay en mi familia, sino en todas las familias del mundo.

The women in my family are everything you have just read, but they are also so much more and more than what I can see and what they can sometimes see of themselves. They are brave warriors who are ready to face any battle that comes their way and know that they have the perfect protection to come out victorious once again in the face of adversity.

Today I thank every woman in my family who stood up in the middle of the storm and decided to keep rowing against the current and fight to the end of the battle; because there is no warrior like a brave woman and there are such women not only in my family, but in every family in the world.
