Hello friends of the ecency community I hope you are having a great day, afternoon or evening; today I have decided to join the initiative of the Family&Friends community and @hivedamor for a very noble cause such as supporting the Santo Domingo Nursing Home.

The only grandmother I knew

Picture of my grandmother when she was young

When I was a child, I lived with my mother and my maternal grandmother. I never knew my paternal grandparents. From my grandmother Eva, I have the most beautiful memories and I treasure them in my heart, my grandmother was a nurse, completely dedicated to her work, I remember that her patients came home at all hours and she treated them as if they were her own family, with a unique treatment and dedication, all the patients left home with their respective cures and with infinite gratitude; many of them returned with a present for Evita for her kindness and the tact she had in treating them.

My memories with my grandmother and her teachings.

My grandmother did not read me stories at bedtime, she did something better hehehehe, she told me stories of her youth, her travels, her first loves and how she met grandfather Clemente, whom I did not have the opportunity to meet in life but through my grandmother.

One of the stories I remember my grandmother telling me the most is that when she was a child , she lived in an oil field in Maracaibo, Venezuela and her grandmother took her and her brothers every afternoon at 4:00 pm to a supermarket that was in the field, because at that time a man passed through the place with several goats and cows selling fresh milk; they took the milk directly from the udder of the cows or goats and served it in glasses for them to drink it right there. And this had become my grandmother's favorite ride when she was a child.

My grandmother always instilled in me the value of the family, the love and respect that we should have for each other in the family nucleus, no matter what our differences or disagreements are, because as she used to say:

Loves, friends and problems come and go, but family always remains.

Would I leave my grandmother in a nursing home?

Regarding the question of whether I would leave my grandparents in a nursing home, the answer is that I would not do it under any circumstances, because I feel that I would be failing the teaching that my grandmother left me about the value of the family and that it must remain united. I want to make it clear that not all grandchildren live in the same circumstances or situations and there will be many who for different reasons are forced to leave them in nursing homes or care homes; we must always put ourselves in the shoes of these people.

Finally, to those who have their grandparents still alive, I advise you to love them, respect them, listen to them with attention, in this way you will be able to give them back all the unconditional love that these our second parents give us.
