Hi everyone, i am making this post today today to address a few things about our relationship with Christ. Even in the old Testament, we have many scriptures that point out the kind of relationship we have with Christ.
In the old testament, precisely in Jere. 2: 2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the Lord; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
Let's look at a more updated translation and see what the bible say "Go and shout this in Jerusalem’s streets: This is what the Lord says! I remember how eager you were to please me as a young bride long ago, how you loved me and followed me even through the barren deserts. 3 In those days Israel was a holy people, the first of my children.[a] All who harmed them were counted deeply guilty, and great evil fell on anyone who touched them."(TLB)
Now when we came into Christ, we came into the relationship that is in the nature of marriage, that is why we are called the bride of Christ. I have heard allot of preachers saying that once we are served in Christ, we remain served and that we are licensed to live our lives at will.
Now let's see what the bible says in the New Testament *"Rom 7:3 So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.....
The Apostle Paul was explaining our relationship with Christ here and was likening it to the situation of marriage.
Note no faithful wife will take another husband when the husband is still around. Now marriage is a matter of faithfulness and commitment. No true marriage is bias. So when i say that i can do anything in Christ is totally an erroneous. A lot of believer's today are actually doing things that is totally in the opposite of the scripture.
How can a wife or a husband have an extra-marital affair while they are still married. Now if Christianity is like marriage then it means we don't have a live of our own to live.
This subject is actually a deep teaching and so we will be learning together in series.
