The Blessedness of Intercession

Today i like us to look into a very crucial but most ignored practice in the Kingdom that is a major key in kingdom advancement and progress, Intercession.

What is intercession?
The action of intervening on behalf of another. This is one thing in the body of Christ that modernization has seems to take away or perhaps believers has refused to take the ministry of intercession to heart. Salvation wouldn't have been made possible without intercession. There is great necessity in interceding for others.

Intercession is not a happening that began in the New Testament, we the can trace the first act of intercession by a man to Abraham in Genesis when he was in a conversation with God concerning the land of Sodom and Gomorrah because of his nephew Lot. So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived. Now the King James version says that God remembered Lot for Abraham's sake because Abraham had prayed for Lot.

Many destinies have been destroyed because no body is praying for them. Young guys and ladies are suffering juvenile delinquency today because instead of their parents praying for them, they rather curse them.

What ever results you will see in people is as a result of how much prayer you are offering up for their sake.

In the New Testament, countless times, we hear Apostle Paul make mention of how many times he remembers every believers in their prayer. At one point he said, i do not fail to mention your names in my prayer meaning that Paul was one man that understood the ministry of intercession and how to birth transformation through it. In Galatians 4:9, Paul said, Genesis 19:29 My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, NIV

Immaturity among believers can also be corrected by intercession and not only teaching of the word.

In Luke 22:31-32 Jesus declare to Simon Peter how the devil has desired his life and how he wants to sift him a wheat. "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."

We sit in silence and watch people and multitude of people walk in darkness just because we feel we no longer have the time to pray for others. Jesus would have simply left Peter to the devil to be wasted but because of the love in His heart for humanity, He prayed for him.

The many persistent challenges we go through in life as believers is because we have neglected the place of intercession - praying for others that God almighty would help them out of their own situations.

Bible says that when Job began to pray for his friends, the Lord turned again the captivity of Job and gave him double for all his trouble. There was of Love in the heart of Job that made him ignore his own affliction to pray for his friends.

Intercessory prayer is a prayer of love.

So when you tell a fellow believer that you love the person, would you proof it by interceding for the person, his family, his business or his marriage. Remember that intercession is a prayer of Love

Receive grace to develop and maintain a life of intercession in the Name of Jesus.
