¿Por qué Dios no comparte su gloria con las imágenes? Simplemente porque Dios es "Celoso" Éxodo 20:5.
Dios está celoso de su pueblo y de su iglesia. Muy temprano en el Antiguo Testamento, Dios declaró a Moisés en el pacto que hizo con el pueblo de Israel, que no debían "tener otros dioses, ni hacer imágenes de ellos para adorarlos y honrarlos".
Dios también declara en el Salmo 115: 4-8, que:
Sus ídolos son plata y oro
obra de manos de hombres.
5 Tienen boca, pero no hablan;
Tienen ojos, pero no ven;
6 Tienen oídos, pero no oyen;
Tienen narices, pero no huelen;
7 Tienen manos, pero no sienten;
Tienen pies, pero no caminan;
No hablan con la garganta.
8 Son como los que los hacen,
Y el que confía en ellos.
Es muy claro, que Dios no comparte su gloria con las imágenes porque son vanidades de los mismos hombres, son esculturas hechas con manos de hombre y son ciegas como los hombres que las hacen.
La ira de Dios se revela con los pueblos, naciones e individuos en particular, que sirven y adoran estas imágenes. Dios castiga a los pueblos que en lugar de darle gloria y servirle, se la dan a las imágenes.
Dios castigó al pueblo de Israel en el tiempo de los jueces y los reyes, porque el pueblo se apartó de la ley que Dios había dado a Moisés y fue a adorar imágenes como Asera y Baal. La ira de Dios contra Israel fue tan grande que los desarraigó de la tierra que les había prometido y los llevó cautivos a Babilonia.
Dios exige que su pueblo lo adore sólo en espíritu, porque Dios es Espíritu. No es necesario hacer ninguna imagen para representar a Dios, sino que Dios ordena que se le adore en espíritu y en verdad.
Pero viene la hora, y ahora es, en que los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre busca tales adoradores para que lo adoren.
24 Dios es Espíritu; y los que lo adoran deben hacerlo en espíritu y en verdad. Juan 4:23-24 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)
Si quieres adorar a Dios y servirle de corazón, sólo tienes que alejarte a un lugar solitario y elevar tu altar de adoración para derramar tu alma ante Dios y mostrar tu amor por Él. No tienes que buscar una imagen de yeso, piedra, madera, bronce, oro y plata para simbolizar al Señor. Debes adorar en espíritu sin ningún intermediario, porque el único intermediario entre los hombres y el Padre celestial es Jesucristo.
Cuando las personas se convierten en idólatras, esto trae el juicio de Dios. Es triste y lamentable que haya muchas personas que se postran y adoran imágenes a las que dan el nombre de vírgenes. El mandato de Dios es:

God does not share his glory with images
You will not have other gods in front of me. 4 You shall not make for yourself any image or likeness of what is in heaven above, or on earth below, or in the waters under the earth. 5 You will not bow down to them or honor them; because I am Jehovah your God, strong, jealous, who visit the wickedness of the parents on the children until the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. Why doesn't God share his glory with images? Simply because God is "Jealous" Exodus 20: 5.
God is jealous of his people and his church. From very early in the Old Testament, God declared to Moses in the covenant that he made with the people of Israel, that they should not "have other gods, nor make an image of them to worship and honor them."
God also declares in Psalm 115: 4-8, that:
His idols are silver and gold,
Work of men's hands.
5 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;
6 They have ears, but do not hear;
They have noses, but they don't smell;
7 They have hands, but they cannot feel;
They have feet, but they don't walk;
They do not speak with the throat.
8 As they are the ones who make them,
And anyone who trusts them.
It is very clear that God does not share his glory with images because they are vanities of men themselves, they are sculptures made with human hands and they are blind, similar to the men who make them.
God's wrath is revealed with the particular peoples, nations, and individuals who serve and worship these images. God punishes peoples who instead of giving glory and serving him, give it to images.
God punished the people of Israel in the times of the judges and kings, because the people turned away from the law that God had given Moses and went to worship in an image like Asherah and Baal. Such was the wrath of God against Israel that he uprooted them from the land that he had promised them and took them captive to Babylon.
God demands that his people worship him only in spirit, because God is Spirit. It is not necessary to make any image that represents God, but God commands that it be worshiped in spirit and in truth.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; because the Father also wants those worshipers to be worshiped.
24 God is Spirit; and those who adore him, in spirit and in truth it is necessary that they adore him. John 4: 23-24 King James Version (KJV)
If you want to worship God and serve Him from the heart, you just have to retire to a lonely place and raise your altar of adoration to pour out your soul before God and show your love for Him. No need to look for an image of plaster, stone, wood, bronze, gold and silver that symbolizes the Lord. You must worship in spirit without any intermediary, because the only intermediary between men and the heavenly Father is Jesus Christ.
When people become idolaters, it brings God's judgment. It is sad and unfortunate that there are many people who prostrate and worship images that are called virgins. God's order is:
