The belief that man is inherently decent is still clung to by many individuals. This we did not get from the Greeks. "Aristotle said," In humanity there is no good. "We did not get that from Judaism. "Jeremiah said," Over all matters the spirit is untruthful, and desperately wicked: who will know it? "(Jeremiah 17:9).
It was not from church theology that we received it. The Apostle Paul wrote, "You have sinned, and the glory of God is in short supply" (Romans 3:23). We got this illusion, I think, from the nineteenth and early twentieth century philosophers and psychologists who taught the false doctrine that man is a powerless victim of his climate.
The Bible states that, inevitably, man is not healthy. It is proven by all human experience. By default, man is defiant. The first uprising in history took place in the Garden of Eden, where the climate was great and no succession was to blame for it!
