The Healthy Church

Many persons often misinterpret the meaning of the word Church. To some, the church is the elegant edifice and structure. To some, it is the musical instruments and facilities. Is this actually what the church is? The answer is NO! The church is none of the above.

The church is you and I. The church is a person or group of individuals who have been rooted in Christ, who are the image of God possessing the knowledge of Christ. The church are those people who have recognized with or encountered Christ Jesus.

Thus, a healthy church is all about those who have the in-depth knowledge of their place and inheritance in God as well as who they are in Jesus Christ. So, the church does not in any way refer to the gigantic building we have built or the state of the art facilities.

More so, the Healthy Church speaks volume of those persons who are ready and devoted to executing and accomplishing the mission and purpose of the church because the church is on a mission on Earth. And what is that mission? Bringing men to the knowledge of Christ through pointing them to the word of God. It is the mission of emancipating man from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God.

1 Peter 5:1-5

To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:

Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;

not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

The healthy church is a place where knowledge is being transferred but sadly some congregations are being fed with fear and human ideologies. God has handed the church so much power and authority but the majority are totally ignorant. A healthy church is a place where the undiluted word of God is being preached, taught and shared.

Let's stop commercializing the church so we do not thwart God's plans and purpose. The healthy church is a place we run to in days of trouble and not the place we dessert when faced with problems. It's sad what is being done to the church in some places because of the prevailing disease.

The big question is:

Are you a healthy church?

We must strive to always be part of the healthy church. I pray for the grace of God to my portion and yours too.

God bless you.
