The attached images were taken at a group shoot at Ostlers Plantation in Lincolnshire, possibly two years ago now. While quite a few people went into taking the straight forward portrait style images, and I don't meant that in a negative way at all, my inner pyromaniac was loaded with smoke pellets, lighters and coloured gels to get some colour and Oomph into my shots.
We were very lucky that one lady who attended is a very talented makeup artist and came dressed as Pennywise from the recent IT films. I was dying to shoot with her and so shot in a small hut, where I backlit her with blue and orange gels and a beauty dish at the front. I got some shots that I was really pleased with. Then I saw Indrija, a model I had worked with before walk past...in a bright yellow waterproof coat, just like one of the characters from the IT film! I literally grabbed her and had her in the shot with a red balloon, it was one of those moments that was just fate!
We also had Cat, who has some amazing outfits. I did a backlit shot with lots of smoke and an orange gel with Cat stood in the door way, and it could have been an okay shot, but her maniacal expression looked like she was gonna grab you and take you down to the pits of hell! In lots of ways this was a very fortunate shoot where luck and timing helped to create some really fun images.
Equipment - Nikon D5300, 50mm portrait lens, and bucket loads of smoke!
