Peak - Light Painting Photography on Hive

S2004703edWeb.jpg

Hello Hiveworld,

I hope you are all well and are using the time for nice things. Due to the current lockdown here in Germany, I have to limit myself to taking some images in my living room studio.

Best time for a bit of silhouette action 🤗

First I cut out the silhouette from a piece of black cardboard. (By the way, I need a machine for this😏).

Then I set up the scene on a table and placed the light. The stars in the background were created with a second cardboard with holes in it.

The camera was then mounted on a second tripod to create the light figure in the centre. It is a 6 way camera rotation with a plastic training baseball with holes in it. To create the light beams, I used some fog.

f/8 - f11 (manual lens)
ISO 100
527 sec. exposure time

The image was taken in several steps, during a longexposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.

Happy sunday to all of you.

Stepko 😎

Lightpainting? What is that?

Light painting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.

Love it!
I should definitely give cardboard stencils a try.

@dawnoner
Thank you mate! Give it a try, why not, we all have plenty of time for IT, at the moment. 😉 But I think I'll need a cutting machine when the stencils get more complex. I still cut everything out by hand and it hurts at some point. 😵

There's not lockdown here in France and I work like usual so I don't have plenty of time for LP. Curfew is from 6pm to 6am now so I cannot go outside for doing LP no more, that sucks. Goverment said there wil be an update in early February 🤞

A buddy of mine made me a dozen of hand-cutted stencils in black cardboard but I never tried to do LP with them, such a shame!
