Evans leads WRC Rally Portugal 2022 after first full day of competition

in Rally2 years ago

Hi, friends!

Welshman Elfyn Evans is finally back on track when looking at results because after some bad outings and the first real points at Croatia Rally because first two rounds at Monte Carlo Rallye and Rally Sweden were without points finishes for Evans.

The thing is that he has to finish the rally the same way he started it. If he manages to do it, then he has real chances for the win. But it won't be easy because championship leader Kalle Rovanpera is in 2nd place overall with gap of only 13.6s behind Evans.

Rovanpera showed real strength despite being first on the road and doing that for whole first day. It's not to open the road and finish at 2nd place. Well done for the first day.

Dani Sordo played safe for the first day of the rally because this is his first rally with the new Rally1 class machinery. I would say that this is real Dani Sordo who almost never retires so it should be stupid to retire him for Oliver Solberg to be pushed in front.

When you have driver in the team who always brings points and almost always on podium, then you have to keep that guy close to the team.

Both Sebs - Ogier and Loeb retired from the day, Ogier because of the too much punctures and no spare wheels and Loeb because he hit the wall and destroyed right rear suspension.

Tomorrow is another day full of action so stay tuned for more news. Let the best win - as always...
