Mikkelsen hopes for Toyota WRC seat in 2022

in Rally3 years ago

Hi, friends!

There are only three WRC teams at the moment and every team has two or three cars available to compete over the World Rally Championship level.

Yeah, works team can have three or four or maybe even more crews but they rotate them over the rallies and they show on every event with maximum three crews.

Hyundai has Tanak, Neuville, Sordo, Breen and Loeb and that's five crews but on each rally they bring only three cars.

Toyota has Ogier, Evans, Rovanpera and Katsuta. They sometimes have four cars per event. And that's where Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen sees his chance for the seat because Seb Ogier should retire at the end of the next season.

He will try some customer driving next season and he must secure the seat with some of the private outfits.

Maybe he could have some time with Škoda works team but in the lower class WRC2 because he had some success with them in the past.

More options are with Sainteloc Racing and their Citroen C3 WRC, the car that doesn't have the development anymore or M-Sport, the team that survives with renting the cars over the world.

One thing is for sure, Mikkelsen will try hard to take some seat in 2021 and 2022.
