Onboard rally of the day - P-G Andersson with Suzuki SX4 at WRC Rally Sardinia

in Rallylast year

Hi, friends!

Suzuki World Rally Team used to be active in the WRC's top category for only season, in 2008 but they were unbeatable for seasons in the Junior World Rally Championship series.

They left the sport in 2008 when economic crises started to knock on the doors of many big businesses so they had to leave the sport, cutting the costs on the part of the company where they could do it without explanation.

Also their SX4 model to high for the rally car if you ask me. Rally cars of that time were much lower when looking the roof. That way the car is much more stable but Suzuki SX4 WRC had the BHP deficit when being compared to the opponent cars and team's development.

Choice of drivers was good although they didn't have the WRC event winner. But they had many podium finisher Ton Gardemeister and the double Junior WRC champion Per-Gunnar Andersson.

That car just lacked the power in itself and that is the reason they didn't score the results they wanted for themselves. There were also some reliability problems which can be seen from this video because there is Gardemeister's car parked on the left side of the road, close to the special stage end.

They stayed in sport for only one season so it is nice to remind ourselves that Suzuki Motorsport was also in the sport of rallying.

Please enjoy... :)
