WRC drivers say that driving on snow with spiked tires is giving you more grip then on any gravel rally.
But this onboard rally video is older then 20 years and some things have changed from then. Technology progresses every year and suspension also progressed heavily during last 21 years.
Here we can also see joystick gear shifter which is now regular only on lower category of cars, especially R5 cars.
But if you are quick, then you are quick. You can't fool the clock. And Auriol was one of the fastest drivers from '90's.
Season 1999 was the last one of Toyota participating in WRC before come back in 2017. They won the manufacturer's championship and Auriol was one of the drivers (beside Sainz) who delivered heavily in that crown taking.
