Hyundai World Rally Team fought back after defeat at Monte Carlo Rallye where Toyota dominated heavily. This time Hyundai took strategic part of the rally at the bast way and just destroyed the opposition.
It is really nasty to comment only about these two teams and not saying much about M-Sport Ford but that's the way it is at the moment.
Guys from M-Sport Ford just have to admit that with selling of works seats to the rich private drivers they won't achieve the top results. There is also a testing needed if they want more from their WRC outings. They just need two top drivers like Lappi and Mikkelsen with Suninen as 3rd driver and good testing program ahead of every rally. That should be better then putting guys into the hot seat and hile they know they can't deliver.
The only Toyota top gun was young Kalle Rovanpera whp finished 2nd overall while Seb Ogier took only one point from the Power Stage. Elfyn Evans finished 5th overall and finishing outside of bonus points from Power Stage.
So Hyundai drivers dominated with WRC 2019 champion Ott Tanak winning the rally while Thierry Neuville finished 3rd again after scoring the same result at Monte Carlo Rallye.
Another Hyundai pilot Craig Breen finished 4th overall and I must say that the who didn't disappointed was Japanese driver Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota), who is learning really fast and who finished 6th overall.
Newcomer into the top WRC category Oliver Solberg had really great rally and almost finished 6th overall but spun on the final corner of the Power Stage and lost that place to Katsuta.
Overall, that was really great event and I enjoyed it following whole weekend.
Next rally is Croatia Rally and it is full tarmac event. Let the best win - as always...
