A Whisper into the Daylight

IMG_7740.JPG

The day comes in with merely a whisper, speaking quietly, as if in
a private conversation with me. I was sure I was the only one who heard it arrive. What does this mean, this murmuring into the day and why am I the only one aware of it - like whispering into my ear. I have to wonder, do you suppose it was to be intriguing?

flower beauty.JPG

Last night I heard a whisper.
It sounded Oh, so clear.
But when I woke this morning,
I found nobody here.

Was it your sweet gentle voice
that whispered in my ear?
Or was it just a gentle breeze
that whispered through the trees?

Could it be you calling me,
In hopes that I would hear?
The sound of your sweet loving voice
that wishes I were near.

Today is a #BeautifulSunday by @Ace108, where we share our day in the most possibly beautiful way that we can. I am having the best of days, a definite #SublimeSunday in the making, by the Meister of my morning, @c0ff33a. I do love my @c0ff33 and he likes eclectic! A definite match, made in heaven. I want to thank @ace108 and @c0ff33a for hosting these fun challenges! Check them out!

Yesterday, I went over the bridge, the long bridge-tunnel route, to save myself from going through downtown Washington, DC during the commuting time the other day. This way has no traffic (to speak of) but, you pay a price for that convenience - to the tune of $21.00! The other bridge was $17.00 cheaper, but, it would have taken me three hours more with the traffic. Sometimes my time is worth more than that. I don't usually leave during rush hour. I was in need of a nice day, so over the bridge, I went.

This means that today I woke up early to watch the sun come up over the Atlantic, once again. How can I possibly refute the beauty of the day? Any day I get to spend with sand between my toes, and the sunshine on my face? It's a definite win. I can smell the salt and I breathe deep, taking it all in. The gulls are calling, the sound volleying back and forth, wailing their song. Do you know the words to it?

Center Crest.png

We brought a couple of kayaks this morning and threw them in the water down around Veterans Park. I sometimes do it on one of the Coves, but, I was close to here. If we are lucky, we will get to see a few ponies in the marshes.

You’ll also want to time your paddle to be near high tide. The higher the tide, the further up the marsh creeks you’ll be able to paddle, maximizing your chances of viewing some of those world-famous Chincoteague ponies. As you head east and cross the channel, boat traffic could be heavy, particularly in the peak summer season. Once you’re across the channel and closer to the marshes of the refuge, you may feel the need to hug the marsh banks to stay away from boat traffic, but oyster beds can be a hazard to kayaks, even at high tide, so it’s best to follow channel markers. And even when you’re way up the creek, particularly when it’s high tide, be prepared to be sharing the waterway with tour boats along the way. If you are lucky enough to spot some of the herd, it’s important to keep your distance, even if the ponies are standing in the water. The rule of thumb is to remain at least 40 feet (the length of a school bus) away from them, and remain in your kayak at all times. Although picturesque, these guys are wild, and they can come with a powerful kick and/or bite! source

Bingo! Mama and baby. There will be a lot of them right about now. They have been dropping foals for the last few months, most are a few months old now. It is always exciting to see the new little ones! You can check out where the island is on the map (world map.com) Chincoteague is on the right all the way at the top of the map. It is in green. That is where I threw the kayak in. My house out there is not too far away and it is convenient to kayak there. I love to come out here when I can and one year, my daughter's college did a field trip out there to do some environmental testing on the water and oyster beds. They used the house as a hotel and saved a boatload of money for the 25 kids that came. I went, mowed the lawn, and left some lasagna and other food. It was fun to set them up, but, I didn't stay and crowd my daughter. :) They have used it every year since. It is our pleasure. They always leave something cool from the school.

Map of the Eastern Shore.jpg

It has been a perfect day, with peace of mind and a piece of tranquility. I have to admit, some days I wonder if I am using this house enough to feel like it is worth it, yet, every time I come out here, I go back happier and more at peace. The ocean pulls me toward her and I willingly run towards her. It has been like that my entire life. She is my master. How can I argue with that? Flowers. Always, to color my world. @alwaysaflower

I want to thank @ace108 and @c0ff33a for hosting these challenges! I hope everyone is having a #BeautifulSunday, Sublimely so! And just like that, this post is over! Come back tomorrow and we will do it again!

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Wow, $4 more on one bridge but if the toll is the same and price of gas has really gone up a long, I guess it's worth it.

Not $4.00 more, $17.00 more! One is $21.00 the other side of the island is $4.00 They are hours apart, made longer with traffic.

Still, it is always a worthy venture.

Hi, Ace! Happy #beautifulsunday!

Oh my, I read wrongly. Good it's worth the money.

Less traffic is always worth the money. :) I hope you are had a great day as you go into the night.

Beautiful post, @dswigle. I can’t believe I never went to see the Chincoteague ponies when I lived out there. I’ve forgotten all about them!

I love kayaking. Must get mine out more this summer, which is slipping by too quickly!

Happy Sunday!

I can't believe it either! :) It is far and away from downtown, and there is so much to do there, I can believe it. The only reason I come so often is I have a house out here, close enough to make the island part of my every day if I want.

I love kayaking also, but life and work have a way of getting in front of everything. I was just saying this morning how I just looked up and it is almost July! Where has the summer gone?

Have a super Sunday! ❤️

Gosh that is pricey to use a bridge @dswigle I have a fear that we are moving towards our little Cape Bridges becoming toll bridges in the future. For not it has always been free to drive on and off Cape, but each year they try and pass legislation to change them .The latest is that it is 'better' to rebuild the bridges larger and then of course in fine print (tolls) Ah well.

Aren't we lucky to be on the seaside this time of the year and your area looks so gorgeous. And of course horses make any locale better for sure. Happy #SublimeSunday @dswigle

The only real bridges that used to bother me (in a very small way) were the tolls, all two of them built on Merrit Parkway for $0.10 each! When all the other tolls were a drop in the basket, those were collected from the commuters and the lines got huge. They have since taken them down, 50 years after the roads were paid for, They were more of an annoyance. :)

I loved that you could get off the Cape without a toll. I have relatives that still live in Woods Hole and further up the chain, so it would have been a big deal. The toll I am showing you here is for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, which is 17.6 miles and takes about 30 minutes to drive across unless there is a lot of traffic. Many motorists hate that bridge, but, I have to say at the other end of the Eastern Shore is the Bay Bridge (my other option) and it is much cheaper but has more traffic the entire way. Until the bridge, then you are free to roam. :) I was two cars back from a truck that went off the bridge. Any piece of the road can be scary, given the scenario.

I hope you have a super Sunday, Donna! So glad to have you back!❤️

That seems a fair price then @dswigle both for the length and the convenience. There will be a time in the future when easy roads verse uncared for roads will be very different I'm sure. It's an interesting time we're moving into. I had a good quiet Sunday and I hope you did as well :)

For me, I have to agree! Seems fair to me as I would rather not go with the nonmovement of traffic. Not today anyway.

It is a very interesting time we are moving towards Not sure it's where I want to go. 😏

If it makes you happier and more at peace every time you spend time there, yes it is so worth it. You can always go there… especially when needed. It sounds like there is a strong pull… enjoy her 😎💃🏻

We tend to take the toll roads, just for that. Less hassle and almost no traffic to speak from. It makes life a bit more easier.
So great to hear you did go the the shore. It sounds so lovely Denise 😁🥰
And than kayak to the island. And to be able to see the wild horses there..l so precious in every way. 🤩
Wonderful to be able to give a little bit to the school and let them use the house for explorations in that area. It so helps them. Your such a good and kind soul.
Thanks for sharing @dswigle
It sounds like you had a lovely weekend. Enjoy the start of the new week 👋🏻😁
Big hug 🤗

Oh, yes. Anytime spent on the water (not to be a snob, but, seawater, not lake water!) is a day steeped in sunshine. My house there is always waiting for me. Less hassle and traffic for sure. I will pay up every time, it beats the alternative.

I didn't paddle across today, just went from cove to cove, and followed the waterway out to where the ponies hide. :) The school is so delighted to be invited back to use it and why not? It really helps them be able to extend their trip as their budget is capped for cost. I always think of the experience they are giving these young adults. Hands-on is so hard to come by.

Another lovely weekend!

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Yes… it is so refreshing too the seawater… it is filled with new energy and can recharge you. I love spending time at the sea… beaches. Not to sunbath… that is not me. But wander along it. Yep ☺️

That’s great cove to cove… in the Netherlands there were nature reserves with wild ponies. Ok… they put them out there… but now they are wild. And enjoying life. It’s wonderful to see. Animals in nature. 🥰

Yes, their budgets are capped and definitely not large. Every country has to deal with that. It is sad… as they teach the new generations. They should add… but yes, to be able to help out in such a way. Wonderful!
I so know hehehe

Good to hear the weekend was wonderful. Up to the week and may it be the same 😁
Good morning Denise 👋🏻🤗

Oh, yes! Good morning! It started way early to have workers at the house. 6:30 am and the work has begun to repair the pipe that burst. Seems like it burst a month ago.

Sigh.

Ooo is it already that long ago…
Good they are there to fix/ repair everything. I can imagine it will be early hehe 😉
Have a truly wonderful evening Denise.

I was planning our trip away this evening. We didn’t want to go anywhere till after the move, but as it seems to take a bit longer and hubby has still holiday days left to take from work, we decided let’s do a long weekend away. We booked Paris for Friday 🤩💃🏻 Yay… we stay 4 nights. Sooo exciting.
Haven’t been there since I was a teenager, with a school trip. I think it must have been around my 12th.
Can’t wait… ☀️🥂

I do love Paris. Kiss the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay for me! Buy your tickets ahead. I never use the Pyramid entrance. There are 5 entrances to the Museum. Porte de Lions entrance!

Montmartre! I could live there.

Don't let the gypsies on the Metro steal you! Did I tell you I love Paris?

Yes, you love Paris 🥰 everything there is just to love… it’s just stunning. Such a magnificent city.
Will keep the entrances in mind. I know all tourists are there… where the pyramid is. I will kiss the museums for you. 💋

The Montmartre we will explore first, our hotel is next to that neighbourhood 😊 so that’s easy to visit and go for dinners in the evening.

Nope, we are keeping an eye on our belongings. Thanks 😊🤩💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Will make some pretty pictures for you 😉 and take you along…

Beautiful morning sky, road travel the quicker the better when aiming to have a day on the water paddling to see wild ponies enjoying life in freedom of the swamps in estuary.

What a wonderful morning, wishing you a glorious day, enjoyed the photography and poetry.

@tipu curate

Thank you for the tipu! @joanstewart

Isn't that the truth! Quicker is better when you are on limited time. The days on the water are always the best. Peaceful and lovely. Those wild ponies make it magical. Everyone is with foal right now. It is a great time of year.

Thank you! You have a wonderful day/evening too!

Thank you for the tipu! Have a super Sunday! @joanstewart

Wild horses would draw me there often to see them enjoying life with foals growing. Paddling the region must be wonderful for birds eye view too!

Sunday midday now, warm in the sun cool indoors, have a super Sunday Denise.

The sun has turned more than warm with the day. The birds play a balancing act of living among and away from humans. I like them out in the wild, as nature intended.

I just looked up and it is almost July! Where has the year gone?

Years fly past of late, balancing act keeping on track with days of the week, let alone months.

Birds should be out on the water or in trees away from humans, many have learned to rely on us which is not good either.

I would pay the extra 4 to skip the extra 3.... any day of the week !

That is so beautiful there and the ponies make it so exciting. Sounds like you really did have a sublime day.

It is $4.00 to cross the Bay Bridge (you only pay one way)
It is 21.00 to cross the Chesapeake Bridge-Tunnel (you pay both ways)

Thank you, it truly was a sublime day. The ponies always make it fun, along with the kayaks. Cannot do without the kayaks.

I hope it all went well at your mom's. I feel a yummy story coming on! I am so tired, I am doing #MarketFriday posts responses, but not posting tonight.

I am le tired. :)

Oh... I thought you were saying it was $17 for one way and $21 for the other. My bad !!!!

Crazy, isn't it? It used to be $11.00 and then 13 then 16 and suddenly it is $21.00

Inflation? Or greed? They know you have to get over to the Eastern Shore if you live there and truckers use it because it is direct to Route 13 straight up to 95 North to New England. Otherwise, the trucks have to pay through the nose to cut across Washington DC with all those axles. And on and on...

This way has no traffic (to speak of) but, you pay a price for that convenience - to the tune of $21.00! The other bridge was $17.00 cheaper, but, it would have taken me three hours more with the traffic. Sometimes my time is worth more than that.

We often say that the time is money. Well. Kind of. It is very limited. We have 24 hours in a day. If you spend three hours from it, no one and nothing will give it back to you. If you spend it with your loved ones, then they give love to you, but not the time you have spent. They can give their time, but not the time you have spent from your own time. Everyone can give only their own time.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

True, but they were with me, so we did it together. :)

It has been a nice weekend with my family and the wild ponies. We will go back to the other house tomorrow, having spent time and fun together. I hope you are doing well!

Have a super Sunday!

Indeed. Any day spent near the waves is a calming event. Have a wonderful weekend.

It was a wonderful excursion and outing. How beautiful is the view of sunflowers، I like it

How nice that you got to get away for the day and enjoy the water. I love the ocean and salty air. The sand between the toes is the best! I love that the kids get to hang out at your house to enjoy the beautiful nature and explore as well.

very nice pictures, with beautiful words

That toll fee makes me cringe. I have to make one market friday post for it and hope that it's enough to cover it lol! But for sand, sea and sun, then so be it :D

ok.... why did I think they were called Asateague ponies???? is that another name for it???
cuz i could have sworn that we saw them when we lived on the east coast, and... why am I confused with the Chincoteague name hahahaha

how wonderful for you to live in such a beautiful peaceful place Denise! i just deep sighed all through this post. its just lovely, and calming and made me feel like I was there with you!

I love your ability to do that!

beautiful... love your musings :)

Happy Tuesday, sweet friend! Thank you for an amazing month with Market Friday. I coudln't have chosen a better community to host a huge celebration of our milestone. (i'm getting a little emotional now hahahahaha) for real. sitting here just so content, so joyful. thank you so much for being you. I don't know if you know how much that means to people. but your kindness is a constant. and it's one of those gifts to the world that might not get recognized often, but it is so appreciated.

may we never take the kindness for granted.

love to you!

Ohhhhh! You are so sweet!! ❤️ I loved that you spent this month with us! It was so much fun and you have the best people involved! They have gone around to many of the posts, interacting and bringing people out of their shells. That is worth everything! Aside from doing good for my community and others, you are developing new accounts and further growing the ones that already are. You are an amazingly selfless person! Love you!

Before I forget, I don't live there, but, I have another house over there. I live in the Washington, DC metro area and have a house on the Eastern Shore too. Did I tell you I collect houses? As for the Assateague part. One herd lives on Assateague (the Maryland side of the island) and the other half lives on the Virginia side. Why did they split the island? I don't know, but, Maryland doesn't do anything for the ponies except let them live wild. Virginia will throw hay bales if the winter is rough so they don't lose any, and innoculate when a disease is spreading, In 2018, Swamp cancer was a real issue and so they came out with a vaccine for it. they rescue mamas and babies if they have one off-cycle and are struggling, but, that is extreme cases. they are usually left to their own devices. The Chincoteague Fire Department sponsor them and take care of anything needing to be done. They are their Guardian Angels. I am almost ready to do another post on just the ponies and firemen.

Oh, woman! I am not kind. You should see when I tell someone that it isn't a #MarketFriday post! It isn't pretty! I was told that everything can be a #MarketFriday post. Yikes! No wonder I have no voting power left! :) Kidding. Just low, :) Aren't we all? It has been such a pleasure to have your beautiful self! Thank you for choosing this community and you throw the best parties! Your people can cook!!!! For sure~ I will be visiting their houses, the heck with their posts! They are cooking up a storm as we write this!

Seriously. My biggest problem is that I don't get out of my own comment section as much as I need to, not including the MF posts. Thank you so much. Thank you for being you! ❤️

Edit: @dreemsteem

ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLl i know what you mean - but when you love the comment section as much as we do - it's all fun! it's all a party! hehehehe

and yes - they are pretty special!!!

all of them - i just love our little group - and its slowly growing, growing, growing!

and thanks for clearing up that part about Assateague! wow - so interesting how they have different views about how to handle them! hehehehe

I like the side that cares for them without invading! its a beautiful thing to help another creature. compassion. i wish we all had more of it!

and i don't believe that you're ever unkind! noooooooooooooo. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
im not listeningggggggggggggggggg

just go eat your tootsie rolls! roflllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllL

LOVE YOU !!!
