October, especially in its last days, is characterized by celebrations related to death, hence Halloween, which is present in different ways in our cultures. From here you can access my post from last year, where I discussed the origin of this holiday.

It is interesting to know how different communities live these days, I would like to refer here to Mexico which is perhaps one of the countries of greatest reference, in fact for many these celebrations are here more heartfelt than the Christmas ones.

Let's look particularly at the tradition of the Mexicans littles skulls, literary pieces usually starring a person, made in a satirical way highlighting some aspect of his life and referring to the fact of death, which is known by many other names: the catrina, the bony, the skull, the hairy, the grim reaper, among others.

An example that occurred to me from one of the most current news could be the following:

"Science fiction drives the future
This is how the professor taught me one day in July
The metaverse present today is proof of that
The catrina says present with her avatar already composed."

Octubre, de manera especial en sus últimos días, se caracteriza por celebraciones referentes a la muerte, de allí el Halloween que de diversas manera se hace presente en nuestras culturas. Desde aquí puede acceder a mi post del año pasado, donde traté sobre el origen de esta festividad.

Es interesante conocer cómo viven estos días las diferentes comunidades, quisiera hacer referencia aquí a México que es quizá uno de los países de mayor referencia, de hecho para muchos estas celebraciones son aquí más sentidas que las decembrinas.

Fijémonos particularmente en la tradición de las calaveritas mexicanas, piezas literarias protagonizadas normalmente por una persona, hecha de forma satírica resaltando algún aspecto de su vida y haciendo referencia al hecho de la muerte, la cual se le conoce con muchos otros nombres: la Catrina, la huesuda, la calavera, la pelona, la parca, entre otros.

Un ejemplo que se me ocurrió desde una de las noticias más actuales podría ser el siguiente:

"La ciencia ficción impulsa el futuro
Así me enseñó el profesor un día de Julio
El metaverso hoy presente es prueba de eso
La catrina dice presente con su avatar ya compuesto."

I like these Mexican skulls because they make me think that from death no one escapes, she is always lurking, she is the surest thing we have in life without distinction of social class, sex, creed, race, nationality, or any other particularity.

However, I also go further and consider the importance of taking advantage of life, because it is a treasure in our hands, the most valuable thing we have and that not knowing until when we will have it should lead us not to waste a second of it, as in that famous conversation between two friends (which heads this post): "one day we will die ... yes, but not the others". Therefore, let us not simply dwell on the fact of death, but let it lead us to reflect on the development of our life.

Personally, I think that this is not just a pastime but that we can leave our mark and positive impact on this world, this is fundamental and is one of the reflections that I like to share, as in this celebration today (pictured below) where an altar was made for some of the deceased, tradition in some states of Venezuela.

Me gustan estas calaveras mexicanas porque me hacen pensar que de la muerte nadie escapa, ella siempre está al acecho, es lo más seguro que tenemos en la vida sin distinción de clase social, sexo, credo, raza, nacionalidad o cualquier otra particularidad.

No obstante, también voy más allá y considero la importancia entonces de aprovechar la vida, pues, es un tesoro en nuestras manos, lo más valioso que tenemos y que al no saber hasta cuándo la tendremos nos debe llevar a no desperdiciar ni un segundo de ella, como en aquella famosa conversación entre dos amigos (que encabeza este post): "un día vamos a morir... sí, pero los otros no". Por lo tanto, no nos detengamos simplemente en el hecho de la muerte, sino que éste nos lleve a reflexionar sobre el desarrollo de nuestra vida.

Personalmente pienso que esta no sea simplemente un pasatiempo sino que podamos dejar nuestra huella e impacto positivo en este mundo, esto es lo fundamental, y es una de la reflexiones que me gusta compartir, como en está celebración de hoy (en la foto de abajo) donde se elaboró un altar para algunos difuntos, tradición en algunos estados de Venezuela.
