ENG-ESP Buying medical supplies for my first on-call at the hospital

Hola hive, hoy quería compartirles los insumos que decidi comprar para tener a la mano a la hora de asistir a mis guardias en el hospital. Para este momento, ya he tenido 2 y en un proximo post les contaré mi experiencia, que si me han leído anteriormente, sabían que estaba un poco nerviosa.

Bueno, para la guardias en el hospital, que son de 7 pm a 7 am, nos piden que tengamos un bolso, preferiblemente un koala con ciertos insumos a la mano, para que vayamos tomando un poco de experiencia, apoyemos a los doctores residentes encargados, y pues, por si queremos participar en alguna cura usemos también nuestros materiales. Es sabido que la situación hospitalaria en el país no está en óptimas condiciones, entonces, por lo general, los pacientes llevan los insumos necesarios para que su doctor realice la cura, así que si queremos apoyar, es crucial llevar los nuestros.

Hi hive, today I wanted to share with you the supplies that I decided to buy to have on hand when attending my hospital on call. By this time, I have already had 2 and in a future post I will tell you my experience, if you have read me before, you knew I was a little nervous.
Well, for the hospital on call, which are from 7 pm to 7 am, we are asked to have a bag, preferably a koala with certain supplies on hand, so that we can get some experience, support the resident doctors in charge, and well, if we want to participate in any cure we also use our materials. It is known that the hospital situation in the country is not in optimal conditions, so, in general, the patients carry the necessary supplies for their doctor to perform the cure, so if we want to support, it is crucial to bring our own.

Como toda principiante, no sabía que llevar a mi primera Guardia, pero estuve atenta a algunos consejos de los doctores y anote que podíamos tener en nuestros koalas: nuestro estetoscopio, oximetro y tensiometro (para la toma de signos vitales), guantes estériles y de faena, jeringas, alguna solución, aguja de disección, o nuestro kit de sutura...

Por ahora no tengo tantos instrumentos, poco a poco reúno para poder tenerlos todos, por ahora sólo tengo un Estetoscopio que me regaló una tía muy querida. Así que, junto a mis amigos, nos dirigimos a un local distribuidor de insumos médicos, localizado en el centro de la ciudad. Ahí, pensé en lo que podría ser lo basico para tener en mi koala, lo básico que una principiante con ganas de aprender (como yo) necesitara. Entonces, mis amigos hicieron las mismas compras que yo:

2 gasas
1 guantes estériles
Una jeringa de 10
Alcohol
Algodón
1 adhesivo
Mono quirúrgico (pantalón, camisa, gorro y cubrebotas) por si requeríamos que entraramos a quirófano a observar una operación
Y una bata estéril de cirujano, que a veces son requeridas para poder entrar a operaciones.

As any beginner, I did not know what to take to my first Guardia, but I was attentive to some advice from the doctors and noted that we could have in our koalas: our stethoscope, oximeter and tensiometer (for taking vital signs), sterile and surgical gloves, syringes, some solution, dissection needle, or our suture kit....
For now I do not have so many instruments, little by little I gather to be able to have them all, for now I only have a Stethoscope that a very dear aunt gave me. So, together with my friends, we went to a local distributor of medical supplies, located in the center of the city. There, I thought about what would be the basics to have in my koala, the basics that a beginner eager to learn (like me) would need. So, my friends made the same purchases as I did:
2 gauze pads
1 sterile gloves
A 10" syringe
Alcohol
Cotton
Surgical overall ( Coverall, shirt, hat and boot covers ) in case we were required to enter the operating room to observe an operation.
And a sterile surgeon's gown, which are sometimes required to enter the operating room.

Todo esto tuvo un valor de aproximadamente $15 y es solo para una Guardia. Dependiendo del momento en que use cada uno, debo ir Reponiendo para siempre estar equipada con lo básico.

Luego, todo esto como dije anteriormente, lo organicé en un koala. Y a la mano, tenía un pequeño fresquito atomizador donde coloque alcohol, para que fuese más práctico echarmelo en las manos y desinfectarme, sobretodo porque estando en el hospital no podemos bajar la Guardia con las medidas de bioseguridad.

Hasta ahora mis compras fueron útiles, en mi primera Guardia hice uso de las gasas asistiendo una cura a la doctora, y en la sgda usé los guantes esteriles que compre para realizar un procedimiento, la colocación de una sonda.

All off these cost about $15 and are only for one Guard. Depending on when I use each one, I have to replenish so that I am always equipped with the basics.
Then, all of this as I said before, I organized it in a koala. And at hand, I had a small spray bottle where I put alcohol, so that it would be more practical to pour it on my hands and disinfect, especially because being in the hospital we can not lower the Guard with biosecurity measures.
So far my purchases have been useful, in my first shift I used the gauze to assist the doctor in a cure, and in the second one I used the sterile gloves I bought to perform a procedure, the placement of a catheter.

Por ahora estoy contenta y poco a poco adaptandome un poco más a las guardias, aprendiendo en cada noche un poco más y viviendas estas experiencias con determinación y valentía. Mi próxima guardia es este jueves y ya tengo que salir a comprar nuevos guantes jejeje!

For now I am happy and little by little adapting a little more to the guards, learning a little more every night and living these experiences with determination and courage. My next shift is this Thursday and I already have to go out and buy new gloves hehehehe!
