Con respecto a este tema se ha escrito mucho, lo sé, incluso darle un título a esta publicación fue todo un desafío, porque se han inventado cualquier cantidad de frases relacionadas, que resulta casi imposible, solo basta googlear un poco y encontraras infinidad de contenido, cualquier cantidad de gurús tratando de contarte su historia, o “influencer” diciente lo que ellos creen que es lo necesario para obtener el éxito, pero la realidad es que no importa a cuentos escuches, o cuanto leas, al final eres tu y tus experiencias las que te ayudaran a entender que es el éxito y saborearlo por ti mismo.
A lot has been written about this topic, I know, even giving a title to this publication was a challenge, because they have invented any number of related phrases, which is almost impossible, just google a little and you will find plenty of content, any number of gurus trying to tell you their story, or "influencers" telling you what they believe is necessary to achieve success, but the reality is that no matter how many stories you listen to, or how much you read, in the end it is you and your experiences that will help you understand what success is and savor it for yourself.

Todos llegamos a cierta edad donde tenemos nuestros momentos de crisis existencial, y nos partimos la cabeza pensando y somos exitosos o no, y es que el mundo te bombardea con tanta información y proyecta tantas ideas sobre que es el éxito y que hacer para alcanzarlo, que sin darte cuenta caes en falsas escalas de comparación, que parecen no ser parte de tu vida, pero casi que de manera tacita las aceptaste y empiezas a establecerte estándares para obtener el éxito.
We all reach a certain age where we have our moments of existential crisis, and we break our heads thinking about whether we are successful or not, and the world bombards you with so much information and projects so many ideas about what success is and what to do to achieve it, that without realizing it you fall into false scales of comparison, which seem not to be part of your life, but almost tacitly accepted them and begin to set standards for success.
¿Pero que es el éxito?
Para mi esta palabra es ambigua, porque hay un sinfín de definiciones, asi que cualquiera que leas y escojas será buena o apropiada, lo importante es que satisfaga tus expectativas, o se amolde a tu experiencia, pero siempre es bueno conocer el origen de una palabra, porque nos da una mejor perspectiva y podemos crear nuestra propia definición, dicho esto, como fan de la etimologia se, que la raíz latina de éxito es exitus y significa salida, entonces podría decir que el éxito es la salida o fin de un trayecto trazado.
But what is success?
For me this word is ambiguous, because there are endless definitions, so whatever you read and choose will be good or appropriate, the important thing is that it meets your expectations, or fits your experience, but it is always good to know the origin of a word, because it gives us a better perspective and we can create our own definition, that said, as a fan of etymology I know, that the Latin root of success is exitus and means exit, then I could say that success is the exit or end of a traced path.

¿Pero quien te dice que ese trayecto es una línea recta hasta la salida? Nadie, tienes que descubrirlo por ti mismo, así a sido mi caso, me la he pasado la vida entera pensando sobre el éxito y que estoy haciendo para alcanzarlo, porque el mundo te dice que es tener un carro, si es posible cambiarlo cada año por el modelo mas nuevo, o tener una casa, o cuantas profesiones y conocimiento puedas obtener, o que tus hijos tengan una profesión, o que tu negocio factures las 6 cifras anuales, o el reconcomiendo y admiración de las masas.
Llega el momento que te pasas el tiempo angustiado por obtener cualquiera de estas cosas, o lo que sea que quieras lograr, y no digo que no sean importantes, y que no debas trabajar duro para obtenerlas, pero que las presiones sociales, o lo que digan los demás sea lo que dicte que es ser exitoso para ti. Personalmente hace ya bastante tiempo llegue al punto en mi vida donde me dije que no seria mas así, que el éxito llegaría en su momento, y que me enfocaría mas en disfrutar el viaje o el proceso.

But who tells you that this path is a straight line to the exit? Nobody, you have to discover it by yourself, this has been my case, I have spent my whole life thinking about success and what I am doing to achieve it, because the world tells you that is to have a car, if it is possible to change it every year for the newest model, or to have a house, or how many professions and knowledge you can get, or that your children have a profession, or that your business has a 6 figure annual turnover, or the recognition and admiration of the masses.
It gets to the point where you spend your time anxious about getting any of these things, or whatever it is you want to achieve, and I'm not saying that they are not important, and that you shouldn't work hard to get them, but that social pressures, or what others say is what dictates what being successful is for you. Personally, quite some time ago I reached a point in my life where I told myself that I would no longer be like that, that success would come in time, and that I would focus more on enjoying the journey or the process.
¿Como llegue a esta conclusión?
Bueno realmente fueron muchas cosas las que me ayudaron, pero vuelvo y repito, no es que no quiera obtener las buenas cosas que ofrece la vida, o un buen estatus social, me refieron a que el éxito no es lo que los demás dicen, ni tampoco se logra a la manera de los demás, y menos al tiempo de los demás. Para dejarlo mas claro comparto algunos de los principios que me ayudaron a pensar diferente y actuar diferente, uno de ellos es el principio de Pareto, no voy a hondar en lo detalles de algo bastante extenso, basta con decir que lleva el nombre de su creador, y que se pensó en relación a la agricultura, y con varios hecho se demostró la regla del 20 – 80, que dice que con el 20 % de los esfuerzos se obtiene el 80 % de los resultados, pero que en ocaciones equivocadamente aplicamos el 80 % de esfuerzo y obtenemos el 20 % de resultados. Conocer esto me llevo a vivir diferente, a que mi transitar para lograr lo que para mi es éxito, sea un 20 % de verdadero esfuerzo, que me acerque a un 80 % de éxito.
How did I come to this conclusion?
Well, there were really many things that helped me, but I repeat, it is not that I do not want to get the good things that life offers, or a good social status, I mean that success is not what others say, nor is it achieved in the way of others, let alone the time of others. To make it clearer I share some of the principles that helped me to think differently and act differently, one of them is the Pareto principle, I will not delve into the details of something quite extensive, suffice it to say that it bears the name of its creator, and that was thought in relation to agriculture, and with several facts demonstrated the rule of 20 - 80, which says that with 20% of the efforts 80% of the results are obtained, but sometimes mistakenly apply 80% of effort and get 20% of results. Knowing this led me to live differently, so that my journey to achieve what for me is success, is a 20% of real effort, which brings me closer to an 80% of success.

Eso me lleva a otro principio que se ajusta perfectamente con el anterior, ese 20 % del mejor de los esfuerzos debe ser constante, porque vivir acelerado pensando que siempre es tarde para ser exitoso, rara vez surte efecto, y con el tiempo pasa factura. Déjenme dar un ejemplo para hacerlo mas claro, una vez leí una cita de Terry Prachett que dice: “La luz cree que viaja más aprisa que nada, pero por más rápido crea que va, siempre se encuentra con que la oscuridad la está esperando”. Esto se puede interpretar de muchas formas, lo sé, pero me gustaría orientarlo al hecho de que por mas que creamos que debemos apurarnos porque se nos acaba el tiempo para ser exitosos, lo que sea que represente el éxito para nosotros, siempre estará allí al final del camino esperándonos, sin importar si lo hicimos rápido o no, porque ser constantes igualmente nos conducirá a lo excelso.
That brings me to another principle that fits perfectly with the previous one, that 20% of the best efforts must be constant, because living accelerated thinking that it is always too late to be successful, rarely has an effect, and eventually takes its toll. Let me give an example to make it clearer, I once read a quote from Terry Prachett that says: "Light thinks it travels faster than anything else, but no matter how fast it thinks it is going, it always finds that darkness is waiting for it". This can be interpreted in many ways, I know, but I would like to direct it to the fact that no matter how much we think we must hurry because we are running out of time to be successful, whatever success represents for us, it will always be there at the end of the road waiting for us, no matter if we did it fast or not, because being constant will still lead us to the superb.
Y para terminar esta catarsis medio desahogo, que nace por la angustia que me provoca el ver a otros desesperarse por ser exitosos, comparto algo que aprendí que no se si Albert Einsten realmente lo dijo, sé que se le atribuyen muchas cosas, pero si lo dijo o no es una reflexión que vale la pena compartir, la cita dice: “Una vida tranquila y modesta traerá más alegría que una búsqueda de éxito ligada a constante descontento, donde hay voluntad hay un camino”. Entonces en resumen lo que para nosotros es éxito, es éxito, sin importar lo que piensen los demás, disfruta del viaje trayecto al éxito, porque es de donde obtenemos el mejor aprendizaje, con pequeños esfuerzos, pero de calidad se obtiene los mejores resultados, se constante y no vivas acelerado pensado que se te acaba el tiempo y no olvides que el éxito ya está allí esperándote así que no importa cuán rápido lo alcanzas.

So in summary what for us is success, is success, no matter what others think, enjoy the journey to success, because it is where we get the best learning, with small efforts, but of quality you get the best results, be constant and do not live accelerated thinking that you are running out of time and do not forget that success is already there waiting for you so no matter how fast you reach it.
