¿Las emociones afectan nuestra creatividad? - Do emotions affect our creativity?

in Catarsis2 years ago

Being creative is not an easy task and even more so when your job involves being full-time. Creativity is an incredible gift, but contrary to what many believe, there is no inexhaustible source of creativity in the mind of a creative person, I even believe that it does not even come from the mind, it is something more inclined towards emotions.

Creative people when we are happy flow like waves, ideas overflow, we create even with our eyes closed and when we are not creating we are thinking of better ways to innovate because we love to make a difference. In the world there are many jobs for creative people, important positions in big companies, great ideas are very well paid, but being creative is exhausting and many times we are not allowed to take a break to regenerate and clear our minds.

There are several exercises to stimulate creativity when there is a mental block, even to train the brain or warm up engines, but what happens when the block is emotional? How is it possible to continue having great ideas or think about connecting with people when we are not well emotionally? And this is not the bad thing about it, what is really uncomfortable is that we feel that it is our duty to keep coming up with good ideas all the time, well... we are creative and that is what we are supposed to do, right?

When this happens we get into the blockade of the creator, we begin to force our mind and we get frustrated because the ideas do not flow or perhaps if some other flows, but we have lost the ability to materialize them or to get the best out of them, because the truth is that at that moment we are not well and we focus on pushing ourselves so much that the blockage increases giving way to the anxiety that generates knowing that your work is being delayed. The first step to get out of this is to identify the core of the problem, look for the main reason for the situation in which you find yourself and understand that we are emotional beings, everything we live affects us emotionally even if we do not realize it, that is, it is time to focus more on what we feel than on what we think.

What are you feeling right now? Why do you feel this way? What was the origin of that feeling? What would make you feel better? Self-assessment is essential to know what we should do to heal, medicines have not yet been invented to control emotions and sometimes we need them, can you imagine a pill to heal a broken heart? I think they would be sold out the first day they hit the market. Once we identify the origin of our state of mind we can help ourselves to heal.

Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel at that moment, do not repress yourself, let your emotions flow, if you are sad it is always valid to cry, the body seeks to drain in some way and many times we avoid doing so to avoid feeling weak, but the truth is that crying helps to heal, it is not there in vain, it has a function to fulfill, crying repairs the soul, it is a tool and it is a good thing if we do not fall into excess. If you feel upset, indignant, humiliated, depressed or in any way that is preventing you from continuing to create, take your time, rest, breathe and identify the problem.

I know that many times we do not want to do anything, just stay in bed and that is totally valid, but taking into account that there is no remedy for these cases, we can not go to the doctor and ask for a syrup to recover the mood, it is up to us to do what is necessary to heal, that is, the days of mourning are always necessary, do not exclude them because they will help you to drain the emotions you may be feeling. Once you have let everything negative flow through the grief, you can begin to stimulate your brain with activities that you feel can give you pleasant sensations. We all need inspiration to get back on track, you can look at pictures or movies, take walks, connect with nature, look for exercises that stimulate creativity, travel, in short, any activity that generates dopamine will be essential in the process.

A creative person who works in his field is really passionate about his work, because he was born to create and even if there are difficult days, our desire to continue materializing ideas will flourish again with the right inspiration. Have you heard of those great artists who in the midst of a love breakup create the best work of their lives? whether it is a musical album, a movie or a painting, even in the midst of pain we are able to continue creating because we were born for this and we love what we do. In short, creativity comes from passion, from our heart, when it vanishes it is because emotionally something is not right, but once we detect it we are able to heal and transcend because there is nothing that makes us happier than to continue creating. Take your time to heal and you will come back with more desire to eat the world.
