Siempre el que teme por las cosas que ha hecho en su vida, guarda un profundo temor a la muerte y lo que está más allá de este mundo. Las personas sienten miedo al pensar en su final, supongo que es porque aún no están preparados para afrontar la magnitud del hecho en sí, pero además de esto también sería correcto pensar que muchas religiones han determinado en las conciencias de las personas que la muerte es el final de su vida terrenal, y para optar a la vida eterna debieron haber mantenido una correcta conducta durante su estancia en el mundo material. Aquellas personas que dedicaron sus vidas a ellos mismos y no a sus dioses van a temer por su muerte porque inconscientemente se genera el hecho de que les va a ir mal en el otro lado cuando mueran, pero no vamos a hablar sobre como las religiones usan este miedo para controlar mentes o como las personas usan este miedo para creer en algo más allá de lo material, el tema a tratar es otro.
Ya está planteada la idea de que cuando un individuo experimenta un momento cercano a la muerte, siente miedo porque quizás no ha vivido de manera correcta, o no quiere dejar la vida porque desconoce lo que hay más allá, también puede que no deba dejar a ciertas personas solas y tema marcharse antes de que quienes estan bajo su responsabilidad queden desamparados en este mundo. Ese miedo profundo le recuerda a las personas el verdadero valor de la vida y del tiempo que malgastamos viviéndola.
Están aparte aquellos que frente a la inminente muerte permanecen calmados, serenos, aceptando las consecuencias de sus actos y confrontando lo inevitable con una gran pasividad. Esos son los valientes que no es que no sientan el miedo natural de lo desconocido, el temor común por aquello de lo que todos hablan y que nadie sabe; el valiente siente miedo ante la muerte, pero tiene la condición valerosa de confrontar a la muerte a pesar de sentir miedo, es capaz de controlar al miedo y no dejar que el miedo le controle. Estos afrontan las consecuencias de su vida porque con frecuencia son quienes viven sin remordimientos y sin lamentarse sobre las cosas que han hecho a lo largo de su vida, que sean buenas o malas, no son objeto de su temor sino más bien son objeto de su valor, de su estima. Esas cosas que hizo en la vida son el motor de su valentía y su voluntad de aceptar lo inevitable sin remordimiento sobre sus actos.
